Geography of Botswana
Botswana is in southern Africa, right above South Africa. Botswana has an area of 226,000 square miles. Botswana is land locked with land boarders. Botswana gets little rain due to the short rain season. Botswana is rich in natural resource they have minerals, energy, and good crop growing land. The capital of Botswana is Gaborone and it is the biggest city. The Okavango and the Cubungo river are two major rivers. The Kalahari desert is in the south of Africa. This desert cover most of Botswana and parts of Namibia, and South Africa. The Okavango delta is large and formed where a tectonic trough in the center of the endorheic basin of the Kalahari desert. Not enough water and vegetation to healthfully life and survive.
History of Botswana
1. 14th century - Three main branches of the Tswana tribe was formed.
2. 1867 - European gold prospectors arrived and started mining for minerals.
3. 1966 - Independence from Great Britain.
4. 2000 - Flood that left 60,000 homeless people.
5. 2008 - Botswana first diamond trading company.
Culture of Botswana
There are three major ethnic groups of Botswana. There is 79% Tswana, 11% Kalanga, and 3% Basarwa or Bushmen. Botswana has one main language. The main language of Botswana is English. There is 70% of Batswana people that are christian. In Botswana they have most of the same holidays that the United States has. The Batswana people have some others like Botswana day and some other.

Government of Botswana
Botswana has a Parlimentary Republic government. Ian Khama is the leader and has been since 2008. The capital of Botswana is Gaborone. Gaborone is in the south east of Botswana. The United States is partners with Botswana. The United States thinks that Botswana is a model to Africa because Botswana has a stable government. The Unted States has been major partners with Botswana since they got there independence form United Kingdom in 1966.
Economy of Botswana
The currency of Botswana is the Pula. Most people make a living by substance farming. Also some people cattle ranch, mine, and some are in the tourism industry. People mine for diamonds in Botswana. Botswana's main exports are diamonds, copper, nickel, soda ash, and textiles. The main imports are foodstuff, machinery, electrical goods, and transnational equipment.
