School Safety - StayALERT
School safety is always an important part of the BMS educational setting. Blanco MS and Blanco ISD have partnered with Stay Alert to provide an avenue for students, parents, teachers, and community members to report issues related to school safety. If you are aware of an incident, situation, activity, etc. that needs to be reported to school officials, please utilize one of the Stay Alert program avenues to report it. Those reporting can choose to remain anonymous.

Congratulations to Jake and Chelsea Raley on the birth of their son Chase Harvey Raley. Parents, sister Landry, and brother Carter welcomed him on Wednesday morning. He weighed in at 7 lbs 7 oz. Jake is a member of the BMS staff teaching 6th grade social studies and coaching HS football and HS golf. Chelsea is a member of the BISD technology team and also coaches the BMS Cheer team. The Raleys are back home enjoying some time with their new addition.
The Student Council installed a message board in the hallway this year to offer encouragement, positive thoughts, and good advice to students throughout the year. This month the theme is based on St. Patrick's Day and making good choices. Ms. Hernandez is the Student Council Sponsor.
Blanco Middle School has a custodian position open for this school year and some additional positions open for the 2023-24 school year. If you or someone you know may be interested please go to the district website (blancoisd.com), employment, job listings and fill out an application. If you need more information, please contact Mr. Kinney using the information at the bottom of the newsletter.
March Madness Coming Up
Ms. Meier's 7th Grade Science Classes conduct a March Madness bracket in conjunction with the NCAA March Madness Basketball Men's and Women's Tournaments. Different species of animals compete with each other in the bracket. Students research the animals and make predictions about the outcome of the match ups. Stay tuned for updates on the tournament as they become available.

There is no meet over Spring Break. The next meet is in Johnson City on March 22.
BMS students and staff will be on Spring Break from 3:40PM on Friday, March 10 through Sunday, March 19. Have a safe, fun, restful Spring Break! We will see students back in class on March 20 at 8 AM. BMS offices will be closed during this time as well.
There will be no parent newsletter over the break.
BMS is in the planning phase for the 2023-24 school year. We will be distributing course choice sheets for current 6th and 7th grade students in March - after Spring Break. These choice sheets allow us to put together a master schedule for BMS that is accurate and to staff our campus accordingly. Please plan to select courses with your child to give us an accurate picture of our needs for the 2023-24 school year when these choice sheets are available.
BMS teachers, staff, and students provide shout outs to those who have gone above and beyond, provided help to another person, been a good citizen, accomplished a task/goal, won an athletic contest, participated in an activity or competition, or just need recognition for doing something nice, etc. These are our SHOUT OUTS for the week:
Track teams for their success at the track meet in Comfort.
7th Grade for winning the attendance flag.
Coach Blenden being adaptable and helping us come up with a solution to an issue.
Glee club for their performance at their recital this week.
Ms. Blackburn for helping us with science classes the last few weeks.
