Gumball Goals: Goal Setting for the New Year

This month our topic is Goal Setting. Goals focus us on a specific target and without them, we tend to become scattered in our thoughts and actions. Goals direct our minds on achievement. Goal setting improves everyday actions and decision making. Goal setting provides us with a sense of purpose. Goal setting develops our skills and talents.

It is important for students to learn about goal setting because it encourages student ownership of learning, student engagement and student responsibility.

Students will select up to eight academic and personal goals and write one on each gumball. A small pocket is included to store the gumballs. Each time a goal is reached, students will add the gumball to the gumball machine. A goal sheet is also included for students to document goals met along with the dates.

"In life, as in football, you won't go far unless you know where the goalposts are." Arnold H. Glasgow
