Bev Facey Drama presents "To See The Stars "
It's 1909 and the shirtwaist industry in New York is making profits of $50 million. But the young girls who work in the factories earn barely enough to live on, and their working conditions are brutal. When their pleas for help are rejected by the male-dominated union, the young girls who work at Johannsen's Shirtwaist Factory band together to fight for a better life. They endure beatings, starvation and even prison but ultimately prevail, as the shirtwaist girls win the first industry-wide strike in American labor history. However the girls' real victory is in changing the way they see themselves—not as victims, but as fighters—and in discovering the power of sisterhood.

EIPS School Fees Now Enabled on PowerSchool
Fees for the 2023-24 school year have been added and updated to your child’s account. You can view and pay school fees by coming into the school directly or conveniently by logging in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account. Fee payments can be made online via the PowerSchool Parent Portal using Visa, MasterCard or Debit. If you require assistance accessing your Parent Portal account, contact our office at 780-467-0044. We recommend logging into your account regularly as changes may occur throughout the year.
If you would like to set up a payment plan for the 2022-23 school year please contact our financial secretary, Caroline Dux. Having a successful payment plan allows your account to remain in ‘good standing’ allowing students to remain eligible to participate on athletic teams, non-curricular field trips, graduation activities and other school related events.
Elk Island Public Schools understands that families may face financial challenges that impact the ability to pay fees. Parents who find themselves in this situation can apply for certain fees to be waived using the Application for Waiver of Fees (505-2). A completed Application for Waiver of Fees form can be e-mailed to fees@eips.ca.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our financial secretary Renae Cameron by email at joanne.warwa@eips.ca or by phoning the office at 780-467-0044.

Post Secondary Information Sessions
Our Counselling team has firmed up some Post Secondary Sessions in the next couple of weeks, and we will be promoting them via social media. It's important for our students in Grade 11, and definitely in Grade 12 to attend these sessions in order to get as informed as possible about what is available to them in terms of post-secondary opportunities. Here are our current confirmed sessions.

Career Fair
We are always looking for ways to create collaborative partnerships with families to ensure our students can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful, students need support from both the home and school. As such, a strong partnership with families will have a profound impact in your child’s education. As partners in education, we share the responsibility for student success, and we will do our very best to carry out those responsibilities.
This year for our career fair we are exploring opportunities to bring families into the school with a focus on career exploration and the various pathways people take to get there. It is our hope that we will have parents interested in showcasing and speaking about their experiences to students via a career fair on November 29th (2:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.).
For more information or if you’re interested in participating please reach out to Mr. Adam Lawlor via email at Adam.Lawlor@eips.ca.
