Monthly Character Strength - Integrity
Definition of Integrity
1: the quality of being honest and fair: They have a reputation for integrity [=honesty] in their business dealings. They are of the highest/greatest integrity.
2: the state of being complete or whole: Without music, the film loses its integrity. They are trying to preserve the cultural integrity of the community. The earthquake may have damaged the building's structural integrity.

Dear John Wetten Families,
It is hard to believe it's already November and we are a quarter of the way through the school year! We have a busy couple of months coming up with report cards, our annual book fair, and Fall conferences. Not to mention Thanksgiving and Winter Break!
I want to thank everyone for making this year's Jog-a-Thon our most successful ever! Your support for JWE students is absolutely amazing and speaks volumes to what a special community and school we have here in Gladstone. I am proud to be a part of a community that goes the extra mile for all of John Wetten Elementary. It truly does take a village to raise a child.
I also wanted to remind families that daylight savings is coming up fast and we will set our clocks back an hour.
I hope everyone is enjoying the change in colors and the cooler and wetter weather we are having. Stay warm and dry!
In Partnership,
Michael Clutter

JWE Students not only hit their total school goal of $25,000.00, they surpassed it and hit a total of $38,321! This is the most funds ever raised in JWE history. They also received an incredible 1031 donations! We're so thankful for all our parents and students who’ve supported our school with donations this year.
Our JWE Jog-A-Thon 2021 was a BLAST! Students had a lot of fun learning how to support a good cause. They got to see their Principal duct taped to the wall. Since JWE Leopards did such a phenomenal job we are adding a school-wide ice cream party! We wanted to reward the entire school with a special treat. The top class got to slime the Principal and Vice Principal! If you missed seeing this - Click HERE
Here is a synopsis of the JWE Jog-A-Thon:
$38,321 was raised
1031 donations received
51.41% of the student body participated

After School Transportation Changes
This process is for student safety to document the change and who is making the request. We appreciate your cooperation.
Scholastic Book Fair Is Coming! Nov. 29 - Dec. 2
This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school. After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair:
Please keep your eyes open for an email from your student's teacher for a link to donate classroom books.
You can create a Scholastic ewallet for your student so that they don’t need to bring money with them to school. There will be a record of your purchase at each cash register or you can print out a piece of paper with the ewallet information for your student. Click here for a video that explains the ewallet. Link to ewallet is here (available Nov 1). Students can pay with cash. Parents can purchase using a check or credit card during parent shopping hours on Wednesday and Thursday.
A book fair flyer of some of the books at the fair will go home with students before the fair.
If you have any questions please contact Kim Burke at burkek@gladstone.k12.or.us
Makerspace Items Needed
In the Library's Makerspace students work on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) projects at different tables. At the "Investigation Station" table students take items apart and investigate how they work.

PFO News
PFO Mission:
*Fundraising and Funds Disbursement
We raise money each fall through a Move-A-Thon. Those funds are then used for field trips, school supplies, classroom technology, grade level curriculum and other student centered programs or items requested by the school. All fund requests are voter approved through the PFO email loop.
*Student Enrichment Events, Programs, and Activities
*Building School-Wide Community
There are no monthly meetings to attend. (Unless you have joined a committee, there might be 1-2 throughout the year. These will be via zoom.) No monthly meetings allows our members to get involved when it is most convenient for them. Choose the things they want to be involved in, and it gives EVERYBODY a voice when we vote on issues and funding requests. For those wanting to be involved beyond the email loop we are looking for members for our various committees.
To join the e-mail loop, write to JWEPFO@gmail.com and request to be added.

FREE Covid Vaccines @ GHS
Get a free COVID-19 vaccine at Gladstone High
Since June, Gladstone High School has hosted five free COVID-19 vaccine clinics, providing 429 vaccines to students, school employees, and local residents. We are proud to be part of this effort to protect people across our community.
We are fortunate to have several partners lending support and expertise at these events, including Clackamas County Public Health, Providence Health Services, and the Gladstone Fire Department. They provided vaccines, nurses, paramedic support, and interpreters to ensure a safe and efficient experience for each person served.
In November, we expect authorization of vaccines for children ages 5 to 11. In addition, COVID-19 boosters have now been approved for Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson recipients.
To meet your needs, we are planning four more vaccine clinics at Gladstone High between now and winter break:
Gladstone’s clinics are on these Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gladstone High School, 18800 Portland Avenue. [athletic entrance.] A Spanish interpreter will be provided.
- November 10
- November 17
- December 1
- December 8
According to Clackamas County Public Health, vaccination is the best way to avoid severe illness, hospitalization, and death.
Parents and teens with questions about COVID-19 vaccines are invited to watch last week’s presentation and Q&A with County Health Officer Dr. Sarah Present: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcI82orQ5wQ
Each vaccine we provide brings Gladstone closer to life as usual and helps us keep students in school. Thank you for everything you do to protect yourself and others from getting COVID-19.
