Dear Parents/Guardians,

Can you believe it is already May? As I look back on this school year, it amazes me how fast it has gone by. It seems like only yesterday that we were welcoming all of you here to our annual Drop-in/Drop-off event before the first day of school. However, we are nearly finished with the 2022-2023 school year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you parents for your level of support and involvement this year.

We appreciate the countless number of volunteers who have helped during various events such as Jog-A-Thon, picture day, Smart Reading, field trips, Family Fun Fridays, popcorn popping, Grant Beautification Day, and general classroom assistance. Your time and effort have made a huge difference in the lives of our students. Our students love seeing parents and volunteers in the building and involved in their education.

Once again, thank you so much for your support and generous time donation. We look forward to continuing to build our partnership with you as we realize the important of home and school being on the same page. Please continue to feel free to become a volunteer as we want you to be involved!

Ya es mayo. ¿Puedes creerlo? Cuando miro hacia atrás en este año escolar, me sorprende lo rápido que ha pasado. Parece que fue ayer cuando les dimos la bienvenida a todos aquí a nuestro evento anual de llegada y salida antes del primer día de clases. Sin embargo, casi hemos terminado con el año escolar 2022-2023. Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para agradecerles a todos los padres por su nivel de apoyo y participación este año.

Apreciamos la innumerable cantidad de voluntarios que han ayudado durante varios eventos como Jog-A-Thon, día de fotos, lectura inteligente, excursiones, viernes de diversión familiar, palomitas de maíz, día de embellecimiento y asistencia general en el salón de clases. Su tiempo y esfuerzo han hecho una gran diferencia en la vida de nuestros estudiantes. A nuestros estudiantes les encanta ver a los padres y voluntarios en el edificio e involucrados en su educación.

Creativity is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Well. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management.

La creatividad es uno de tres rasgos en los que nos centraremos durante todo el año que ayuda a los estudiantes a estar bien. A lo largo de la escuela, los estudiantes desarrollarán habilidades como la regulación de las emociones, el diálogo interno positivo y el manejo del estrés.

In cooperation with Willamette Health Council and SKSD, Grant Community School will be sending home a dental hygiene kit to every student. The goal of the Student Access to Dental Hygiene Items Project is to eliminate the painful effects of dental disease. If your student is having dental pain, specifically when they chew or if they experience pain when they are sleeping or hasn't been to the dentist (ever or in a long time) please reach out to Lisa Box at box_lisa@salkeiz.k12.or.us to assist you in finding a dentist.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and as a community, we continue to have the opportunity to show up for each other and take on the shared responsibility for supporting mental wellness and suicide prevention.
