EFFECTS
Today, about one in three American kids and teens is overweight or obese, and has nearly tripled. Obese children are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Childhood obesity is particularly troubling because the extra pounds often start children on the path to health problems that were once confined to adults. Childhood obesity can also lead to poor-esteem and depression. Between 16 and 33 percent of children are obese. Unhealthy weight gain due to poor diet and lack or exercise is responsible for over 300,000 deaths each year. To avoid becoming over weight you will need to eat the right kinds of foods and stay active. Obese children are teased, bullied and made to feel inferior on a number of levels.
