FROM THE PRINCIPAL...TONY WHITE
For my Eagles who had been here from kindergarten, we were all new kids together. I've never been at Norton Creek without you here. But, Norton Creek will never be without you. The mark you have left on your teachers, our school, and me will last forever. For my fifth grade Eagles who joined us in third grade from Fox Ridge, you immediately made our school better just by being you. You brought your energy, laughter, and positivity and not only made a home here for yourselves but for everyone. For my Eagles who transferred in this year, last year, or any other year, know that while you did not come with a large group of students, just by adding YOU to our school, Norton Creek was forever changed. It isn't easy being the only new face in a crowd of people who are already friends, but it can be easier when that crowd wants to be friends with you...and you with it. It is my hope and belief that you found that here at Norton Creek.
I always tell my fifth graders as they leave that you can't go somewhere great without leaving somewhere great behind. We all knew you couldn't stay here forever. You started here at some point over the last six years with the sole purpose of eventually leaving here - stronger. But, we hope you'll always take a piece of Norton Creek with you, because a piece of you will always be here. Fly high, Eagles, and enjoy middle school. I know I have enjoyed my time with each of you.
I would be remiss if I did not mention how incredibly proud I am of our amazing crew here. Literally everyone on staff had to learn a new way to do their jobs, and performed this herculean task admirably. They succeeded in the mission of "looks different, feels the same." And in the process, we've expanded our teaching toolkit too. While we hope to return to something a bit more "normal" (Whatever THAT means!) in the fall, I think many of the skills we picked up this year will remain in our repertoire for years to come. The staff here never stops learning, and that makes their teaching all the more authentic. And that doesn't even begin to cover all that Roger, Mike, Dena, Theresa, and our nurses did to keep our building safe, well, clean, and in high working order. Thank you, Norton Creek, for always moving forward for our Eagles.
I want to thank our families for your unending support, patience, flexibility, and cooperation throughout all of the changes we have had to make this school year. You helped keep our school running strong as we knew we had strong partners to do this work with - as always!
Have a WONDERFUL summer, Norton Creek! It has been an amazing year, and you all enjoy the best summer yet! I hope your Eagles enjoyed Field Day yesterday! I hope they enjoy the summer gift bags so generously put together by Elisa Ignash of our PTO! I hope you just enjoy all of the simple pleasures of life. When we get a gift like summer, that's what it's all about. We'll reboot this summer, and start in the fall refreshed, and I hope you do the same with your favorite people in the world! Be safe and well!
