Krista Casazza, PhD. R.D.
I am Krista Casazza. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine at UAB. My main role is the Director of the Leadership Education in MCH Nutrition Training program and co-Director of the Leadership Education in Adolescent Health Training Program. In this capacity I serve as the Director of Nutrition for the Adolescent Health Center as well as the Associate Director of Trainee Research. I received my PhD in Nutrition from FIU in 2006 and have been at UAB since. I am also a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics and Certified Eating Disorders Specialist.
I am a strong advocate for optimizing health in individuals across the life course encompassing physical and mental wellness. My professional responsibilities provide me the opportunity to engage in clinical, research and service as a healthcare professional focused on optimizing nutrition as well as training the merging workforce to serve and advocate for healthy nutrition across the life span. I will attempt to continue to build coalitions to enhance awareness and programs focused on optimizing health with particular focus in the pediatric population and specifically marginalized youth populations.
