Middle School Receives New Interactive Projectors!

The Epson projectors were installed in each of the middle school classrooms over Spring Break. These are the same type of projectors which are located in the elementary classrooms. These interactive projectors will make the lessons more engaging for our scholars!

Middle School Presentations

A representative from The Center for Hearing and Speech spoke to our middle school scholars today about the various ways hearing can be damaged e.g. loud noises from music, cell phones, and stereo headphones. They also informed the students of ways to protect their hearing e.g. wearing ear plugs. Each student received a pair of ear plugs for future use.

Tomorrow, a representative from Crime Stoppers will make a presentation to the scholars regarding safe social media practices. Thanks to Nurse Greenwell for arranging these sessions to help keep our scholars safe!

Uniform Reminders

As we begin the fourth quarter of the school year, we'd like to remind everyone of the dress code policy. We understand that many of our new families are without the logo shirts due to the Parker Uniform situation. Know that we will continue to work with our families in this matter.

Although some are without the official uniform, we are asking that all students adhere to the shoe policy. Research shows that the way a student dresses, affects the way he/she behaves. Please help us reinforce the dress code policy, so that we may continue to provide an environment, which is conducive to learning.

Shoes:

  • They must be white, black, brown or navy and contain no large logos, blinking lights, or bright colors, including shoe strings.
  • High top tennis shoes may not be worn.
  • Tennis shoes with retractable roller skates are prohibited.
  • Boots and sandals are not allowed.
  • Students with orthopedic challenges may wear a non-uniform shoe with a doctor's note.
  • No lights, sound devices or other distracting features are permitted.
  • Athletic shoes or flat dress shoes with a rubber sole are the uniform shoe.

Socks:

  • Must be worn with all shoes and be visible above the ankles; White or navy.
  • Elite socks are not permissible.
  • Girls may wear white, navy or beige tights or hose. Leggings may not be worn.
  • During cold weather, girls may wear white or navy seamless tights, or hose (not shiny exercise wear) with their socks.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Safety Reminders

This is a friendly reminder to remove all valuables from sight in your vehicles. Let's be proactive in keeping everyone in our community safe.

Lenten Fact- Why aren't Sundays included?

Why are Sundays not included in the 40 day fast during Lent? Originally, both the Fast and Season of Lent were 40 days, starting 6 Sundays before Easter and ending at the beginning of Mass on Holy Thursday. However, although Easter is the designated Sunday to celebrate Christ's resurrection, in a way we celebrate it every Sunday. This is why Sundays are now excluded from the Lenten fast count of 40 days, as it is a day of joy.
