Full Steam Ahead Towards Open House and Cougar Cookout
It's hard to believe that we are more than halfway through September! Tuesday, September 27, is the Title I Open House and 3rd Annual Cougar Cookout. In preparing for the event, please be intentional with placing student-created work in the halls. Worksheets are not allowed. The hallways are looking great! At Central, we will continue to be intentional about cultivating excellence for our students and ourselves. Open House is a time for Cougar Pride to shine! PTO will host a meeting @ 5:30. Families are encouraged to head to the cafeteria at 6 pm and then to classrooms. Attire for Tuesday is jeans and purple "Full Steam Ahead" tees.
No Time to Lose
I enjoyed the No Time to Lose article discussion during our team meeting this week. As mentioned from the Ontario group, "Special attention devoted to at-risk students and specialized teachers helped raise the high school graduation rate from 68% to 82%. I'm looking forward to the positive effect our CES time will have on our children! #future graduates
Cougar Clubs
Students are excited about Cougar Clubs that begin Friday, September 30th during CES time. If your team has not shared club plans with me, let's chat on Monday.
THANK YOU SWU!
Track and Field athletes from SWU spent time last Friday beautifying our grounds. Please take a moment to sign the "Thank You" card in the workroom. They will be here at the end of October for our first ROAR celebration! #swurocks

Reading Display Idea for Open House...
As we focus on reading in our classrooms it might be a fun idea to take individual pictures of your students reading and ask them to write about what they are reading in the picture. This would make a fun display for open house and reinforce our efforts towards reading. If you decide to create a "Reading Selfie" display I (Susan) will happily print any student pictures you send!
Family Literacy Night in October...
We are in the planning stages for our Family Literacy Night on October 18th! The Literacy Leadership Team will meet after school in the PLACE on September 28th. This will give us time to order materials, etc. after plans are made. If you are on the Literacy Leadership Team (or just want to join because you love planning events!), please bring your ideas next Wednesday afternoon! The following folks are on Central's Literacy Leadership Team...
Ms. Floyd
Ms. Goode
Ms. Nunamaker
Ms. McCracken
Ms. Alexander
Ms. Buyer
Ms. T. Stephens
Ms. Avery
Ms. Erickson

We're looking forward to getting together and brainstorming great ideas!
