3rd GRADE NEEDS YOUR HELP!
The 3rd grade class is trying to fill 50 shoeboxes to help the Samaritan's Purse organization get Christmas gifts to children around the world. Samaritan's Purse is an international group that provides aid to families in need around the world. One of the ways they do this is through their Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Drive. You can help fill shoeboxes by providing items on their suggested gift list (see attachment below). Please have items at school by Friday November 15. Thank you for your help!

Teaching Financial Responsibility at Home

Class of 2020
Texas college tuition costs on average $10,584 per year (this does NOT include living expenses)! Here are 2 easy ways that your student can get FREE money to help pay for college:
FAFSA
It is now a Texas Law that every graduating senior must fill out the FAFSA. And why wouldn’t you? It’s a FREE application for FREE money from the government to help you pay for college! Awards are given out on a financial needs basis and on a first come first served basis. If you have a student graduating this year or a student that is already in college, be sure to get this filled out NOW!!! Check out the Guthrie Counselor’s page for helpful tips and tricks when filling out the FAFSA! You can also visit with the financial aid office at your college for more information.
Scholarships
There are lots of Scholarship applications that students can be filling out NOW!!! Don’t wait until the Spring. Also, ask your local agencies that you do business with to see if they offer any scholarships (ex. Capital Farm Credit offers scholarships to local students, but you must talk to your local office for an application).
