EASTER IS THE TIME when we both remember and celebrate the new life which has come to us through our Risen Lord. What do we mean by this “new life”? Can you say that you have experienced this “new life” this Easter or, for that matter, in any previous Easter?
The word “new” appears several times in today’s readings. A new life in Christ, of course, is something that can come early or late into the life of a person. For many saints it came after quite a long period of loose and immoral living without God. The “new life” that the Scripture speaks of is also referred to as “conversion”, a turning round, or, in Greek meta-noia. It means a radical change of vision, of our priorities in life. It means new attitudes, new values, new standards of relating with God and with people and indeed with our whole living environment of which we are a synergistic part.
In the Gospel Jesus speaks of the foundation and heart of his teaching and message. What he does tell us is to love other people – and to love them as he has loved us. This, he says, is a “new” commandment. Jesus has added a new element in telling us that the true test of discipleship is to love other people in the same way that he has loved us.
Know that you are loved by our Creator God and strive to live to be true disciples of Jesus, spreading the love that has been freely given to us as children of God.
God Bless each of you during this time.

Fort Saskatchewan Catholic Schools Playground Committee Update
To all Fort Saskatchewan Catholic School Families,
We are so excited to announce that we have received a grant from the Alberta Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) to fund a portion of the St. John Paul II playground. This is a major step in the right direction, but we still have to raise additional funds to start the project.
With all that is going on around us, it is hard to plan future fundraisers until we know more. That being said, we would like to ask all families to hold on to their bottles as we are planning a bottle drive as soon as it is safe to do so. We will make sure a date is sent out in advance.
With your continued support we are optimistic we could start construction on the St. JPII playground site next summer.

Service Delivery
Each school is staffed with a Family Wellness Worker (FWW), who works under the direction of their School Principal and the Assistant Superintendent of Faith & Wellness. FWW's receive clinical guidance from a Registered Psychologist.
The primary function of the Family Wellness team is to provide social and emotional support to students and families. Family Wellness Workers meet with students and parents to assess needs, set goals, identify required supports, and plan appropriate interventions.
They collaborate with school system staff and community resources to build a “village” of support around students/families who are struggling.
Referrals
Parental consent is required for FWW services.
Referrals to the Family Wellness Program may be made by students, parents/guardians, school administration, teachers, or other school staff (e.g. school counsellor or collaborative response coordinator).
Parents and guardians can access these services by speaking with the Principal or contacting the school's Family Wellness Worker directly.
