GJM Family Connection
March 2022
March News
Spring is almost here. That means it is time to get outside more and enjoy the warmer days to come.
Have you told your kiddo that you are proud of them, or that you love them lately? Recently on announcements I got to recognize a few classes for showing the GJM way in the hall and then I saw more classes following the GJM way. Ask your student what the GJM way is and how that applies to their everyday life.
Report cards went home on Thursday, February 24. Please make sure to sign it and return it to the school. If you have not received the report card, please call the office.

The IISD Covid Plan remains in place. Ill students testing positive for COVID must isolate and may only return to school after 10 days from when symptoms first appeared. Please notify Nurse Handley at 776-1683 extension 3 if your child has any covid symptom or a positive test result.
We continue to have water bottle filling stations in each grade level hallway. Please be sure your student is bringing a bottle or container each day so they can stay hydrated.
Our daily Healthy Tips for this month includes information about safety. Ask your child what they learned today from Nurse Handley's Healthy Tip on the announcements, every morning!

HELPING YOUR CHILD PLAN FOR POST-SECONDARY SCHOOL
Planning for Post-secondary school is not something students do when they are getting ready to graduate from high school. College planning begins in elementary school. When children are young, parents/guardians should encourage them to be enthusiastic about school. Parents/guardians can also help children develop study skills, soft skills and a strong work ethic.
Here are a few things parents/guardians can encourage their children to do.
Come to school on time and regularly
Do your best in classes
Acquire study skills and use them
Complete homework
Get involved in activities
Explore careers
Ask your child about their career goals at each grade level
Teach conversational skills
Be responsible
Volunteer
Working together can get students excited about their future.
Technology Tips:
TIP:
Limit screen time, have conversations with your student about what they are doing, remind your child to never talk to strangers on games, or social media, tighten your device settings, report or block any content that could be harmful or that is disturbing
