JSMS JAM...

We need YOU to join our PTA!

JSMS needs YOU! We are currently in need of a an eager volunteer who will serve as Vice President of our PTA and we also need someone who can spearhead concessions. Please email Holly Flora at hflora@k12k.com if you are interested. There are many people on the PTA Board who can assist and support you if you are interested in this role.

DB Orientation for Rising 9th Graders


Dates and times for New Student Orientation at Dobyns-Bennett have been set. Orientation dates/times will be posted on the KCS web site, the DB front web page and DB calendar. Emails and letters will be sent home inviting students and parents to orientation closer to the beginning of the school year.


Dobyns-Bennett High School New Student Orientation will take place on Friday, August 3 in the theater. Students with last name beginning A-K are invited to attend the morning session from 9:00 to 10:30. Students with last name beginning with L-Z are invited to the afternoon session from 1:00 to 2:30. Following a brief presentation, students will receive their class schedule and have an opportunity to find their classrooms.

Kingsport Library Summer Reading Program

Register online starting May 29th atwww.kingsportlibrary.org and pick up a reading log in the Youth Services Dept.
Two guest performances will be every Wednesdayin June and July @ 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

We are in desperate need of a few items for our clothes closet. If you have any of the following and would like to donate, it would be very appreciated!

boys shoes-highest need is 9's or 10's

Jump Start

Jump Start for Rising 6th Graders will be held May 30, 31 and June 1 and June 4, 5, 6. Registration forms are in the Sevier office and are also available at Sevier feeder schools.

Mayor Clark visited JSMS 8th Graders to talk about City Government.

6th Grade Science students dissect owl pellets!

6th Grade Science Students interview KCS maintenance supervisors to research how much KCS spends on electricity per month and what efforts we take to cut costs and make ecofriendly decisions.

US Congressman, Phil Rowe, skyped with 8th Grade students to share his role in DC and how he advocates for our region in DC.

Kristen Duncan was awarded a Teaching Excellence Award by McAllister's! She was nominated by a student and won! The general manager brought cookies and tea for the entire class!
