END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES - HOW DO THESE LOOK IN A COVID ALERT LEVEL 2 ENVIRONMENT AT STANLEY AVENUE SCHOOL
We want to communicate with you about how our End of Year activities will look during Alert Level 2 COVID restrictions for our school. We have taken advice and guidance from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health when making these decisions:
If COVID levels change and we have to modify the organisation of these events, we will be in communication with you.
YEAR 8 GRADUATION - Thursday 9th December @ 6.30 pm
(Year 8 students, Year 8 parents, Staff)
Our Year 8 Graduation will take part with our Year 8 students, parents and staff in the Recreation Centre. Due to Covid restrictions, the Year 7 students will be unable to attend but will get their turn next year, hopefully in our traditional format. (Social distancing and contact tracing will apply, and if you have cold or flu symptoms then please stay home). Please keep an eye out for more information in the coming weeks about Graduation.
WHOLE SCHOOL PRIZEGIVING - MONDAY 13th December @ 9.30 am
(Staff & Students Only)
We will be hosting our 2021 Whole School Prizegiving outside the Rec Centre, in order for the whole school to attend. This is a great chance to celebrate the year with all of our students and staff. Combined with Prizegiving will be the Year 8 Leaving Ceremony as well as special Year 7 awards. Unfortunately, we will not be able to have parents and whānau
in attendance due to COVID Alert Level 2 restrictions. However, we will be working to live-stream and record this event.
WHOLE SCHOOL FUNDAY- TUESDAY 14th December
(Staff and Students Only)
Our School Funday will replace the traditional Morrinsville Pools trip due to the fact we are only allowed to take a group of 100 to the pools. During the onsite Funday, students will take part in a tabloid/ waka competition on the backfield and swimming pool area. We will send out more information about this in the coming weeks.
HELPER DAY- TUESDAY 7th December
(Rainbows End Day Cancelled)
Due to covid restrictions, Rainbows End have had to cancel this day. We are currently looking into local options to reward our Year 7 and 8 helpers for the wide range of responsibilities they carry out across the school. We will have more specific detail in the coming week's newsletters.

Staff vs Students Bowls 2021
Last bowl of the last end of the last game for 2021...and Taranpreet bowled an absolute pearler to take the 3 shots lead away from the staff and win the game by 3!!!!
As mentioned in last week's newsletter Mr Lowe was referee for the day for the last time, so I suppose it was only fitting that the students he has coached along the way take the win, and will hold the trophy for 2021/22. Well done to Jake Andersen, Rueben Albert, Talia Coombe and Taranpreet Singh-Mahal. This team would have competed at Winter Olympics and the Annual District School Bowls tournament at St Joseph's this year as well, had it not been for Covid restrictions, so this is their first taste of competition for 2021. A sad day for Mrs Hayes...but there is always next year!
Check out the photos of the winning team and their trophy.
