After School Tutoring - HOWL (Helping Out With Learning )
Our after school tutoring and enrichment programs will begin the week of September 11th. Students are selected for after school tutoring based on academic need, using last year's test scores as well as assessments from the beginning of this school year. We will be offering academic support in reading for 1st-3rd graders and math support for our 4th and 5th graders. Academic tutoring is by invitation only and provided Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3-4pm. The second hour of our after school programs, from 4-5pm, provide additional enrichment activities, such as Bike Club, Folklorico , or Art.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Students will be dismissed at 11:40 on September 20, 21, and 22 for Parent Teacher Conferences. If you do not have a conference scheduled, please contact your child's teacher or call our office at (520) 225-2300 to schedule a conference. Parent Teacher conferences are an important part of school and home partnership for your child's success. Please bring your child to the conference, as we are working to have students lead the conferences to discuss their progress and share their goals. Please click on the link for additional Parent tips for conferences.
We are excited to welcome to our new School Counselor, Ms. Rachel Mainvielle. A message from Ms. Rachel- It has been an amazing start to the school year and I am excited to continue working with your student. This month we will be working on the character trait of responsibility. Students will learn how to show responsible behavior in the class by working through their lessons and participating in activities. We will also be learning about emotional intelligence and different parts of the brain that help us regulate our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Some examples of social skills that require emotional intelligence are expressing your thoughts and feelings and being able to relate to others. I look forward to working with your student, and being a part of their journey.
Donations
As temperatures remain high, we always encourage students to drink plenty of water each day. On a daily basis, we have many students who forget to bring their water bottles to school or lose them, and we provide them one. We are asking for donations of cases of water so that we can continue to provide water to those who forget or lose theirs each day. We are also asking for any donations of new, or gently used toys or small items for our tiendita. Students can redeem their Coyote HOWLS for a variety of prizes at our bi-weekly tiendita. Our PTA supports our tiendita with purchases, but we would also appreciate any donations as well.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Parents, please join us for our next PTA meeting on September 26th at 3:00. All parents are invited and we would appreciate your support and input. The September PTA meeting will focus on planning our Fall Fiesta, provided we have enough support for the event. Our Fall Fiesta has historically been one of our biggest school fundraisers but we can't do it without your help.
