Johnson's Journal
Jottings from Mid April
Recently in class...
Math: We finished up working on area and perimeter and moved on to symmetry. Next week we will be learning about order of operations and getting ready for the math MCA tests.
Reading: We finished up our unit on figurative language by creating comics, iMovies, tongue twisters, pic collages, and more to show our understanding of this topic. We also took our reading MCA tests this past week. You will get those results at the end of the summer.
Grammar: We have been learning about verbs and verb tenses: past, present, and future.
Biographies
Over the next two weeks, your student will be reading a biography on a historical figure and completing three projects to showcase what they have learned. This project will be completed in class. As part of their final grade, each student will be required to present their projects dressed as their biography subject. I am not expecting anyone to go out of their way and buy anything for this project. I want students to try to use what they have at home and their creativity. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please contact me.
*The date for our biography presentations has not been set yet. I will send out a letter stating the date once that has been decided.
