Monday Memo
Week of February 10th-14th
Greetings, CCE!
Love is a popular topic this month of February and can encompass a variety of feelings and connections among people. Contrary to popular belief, Love is actually more than just a feeling. Love can be a verb, an action, an intentional practice. Let's focus on this type of Love as we connect it to our work as educators.
During our recent staff meeting, we discussed the importance of learning about our Love Language and those of our students. Here is a quote from our book study, p. 23:
Whatever love language your child understands best, he needs it expressed in one way- unconditionally. Unconditional love is a guiding light, illuminating darkness and enabling us as parents to know where we are and what we need to do as we raise our children.
We love regardless of what the child looks like; regardless of her assets, liabilities, or handicaps; regardless of what we expect her to be; and, most difficult of all, regardless of how she acts.
As you can see, the 5 Love Languages of Children asks us to focus on building relationships by being intentional in practicing and speaking our student's love languages. This helps us to fill the student's emotional tank with unconditional love. This is a purposeful action, something that we can do each day to work on building and maintaining relationships with our students.
As you work to survey your classrooms this month to discover student's love languages, think about what the data will tell you. Think about what actions you can do or show that speak that student's love language. Think about showing students how much you care about them by speaking their love language, the benefits will be multiplied in your favor with every practice.
Thank you for caring about our students, each other, and our CCE families! Lots of Love and Hugs your Way~ Linda
