Hurricane Katrina occurred August 23, 2005 to August 31, 2005. It was a category five hurricane and took eight years to recover from. This hurricane caused more than $100 billion in damage and an estimated 1,833 people died in the hurricane and flooding.

Katrina affected Georgia, Mississippi, New Orleans, Kentucky, Alabama, Louisiana, West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia, New Jersey, Florida, Cuba, Bahamas, and Ontario.
