FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Father Doyle Families,
We're excited to be kicking off Catholic Schools Week on Sunday! We will celebrate our Catholic Schools Mass at 10:30am, and any students attending are invited to wear their school uniform. Mass will be followed by our Virtual Open House beginning at 2:00pm.
We've got a great week planned with various activities and attire for staff and students. You can see our activities at a glance HERE or find a more complete description by viewing the PDF here. It's wonderful to be able to join in this national celebration of Catholic education!
Distance learning during Catholic Schools Week? You can still participate in the fun! Show us your spirit by sharing your pictures on our FJVD Community Padlet! In addition, our School Mass and Wreath Ceremony will be livestreamed on Facebook!
First Trimester Middle School Honor Roll
Congratulations to our First Trimester Honor Roll students! Their names will be posted in our main lobby and each student will receive an Honor Roll certificate. In addition, names will be posted in the Parish Bulletin next week. If you would prefer your child's name not be posted in the bulletin, please contact the school. Thank you!
Snow Day Distance Learning Policies
A reminder that we have one "free" Snow Day remaining in accordance with our 2020-2021 Snow Day policies. This means that our next snow day will not be a distance learning day.
If we are to have additional snow days, you can find the distance learning guidelines for snow days here. Please contact the school with any questions.
Taking Care of - Small - Business
Thank you to all of those families who have already donated gift cards for our annual school Auction! For years, local businesses in our area have generously supported the school by donating items for our auction. This year, many local businesses are facing difficulties, and we would like to help them out while supporting the school at the same time.
For more information on our Taking Care of Small Business initiative see the flyer here and the letter from Father Woolley here.
Tuition Agreements and Re-Enrollment Window for Current Families
A letter from the principal, tuition agreements, and FACTS payment plan options for the 2021-2022 school year were sent home via email and hard copy on January 22nd.
While our hope is to return to more traditional class sizes for the 2021-2022 school year, there is no way to know with certainty how the pandemic will impact the year ahead. We remain committed to full, in-person learning during the 2021-2022 academic year for all of our students while abiding by Department of Health guidance. With that said, it may be necessary to continue to limit our class sizes next year. As a result, we want to provide current families with priority for enrollment and strongly encourage all current families to re-enroll within the re-enrollment window of January 25th through February 12th. All current families who re-enroll within this window are guaranteed a spot for the 2021-2022 school year.
Wishing you all a blessed and enjoyable weekend!
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Travel Guidelines at FJVD
If your child has traveled to a state with a high community spread rate according to the list maintained by RIDOH, they must quarantine for fourteen days. The list of states maintained by RIDOH changes regularly, so please check frequently if you are planning to travel.
If you have questions or concerns regarding RIDOH travel procedures and how they may or may not impact your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Thank you for your continued adherence to these and all of our safety guidelines and procedures. Together, we can work to keep our community safe and healthy in the weeks ahead.
Hybrid Learning & Distance Learning Policies
As shared with families via email we have updated our Hybrid Learning and Distance Learning Policies and Procedures. You can find those changes outlined in the documents attached below, as well as linked here:
Hybrid Learning Letter to Families
Distance Learning Opt-In Dates
In addition, you can view a brief video summary of the updates here. We hope these changes will help make hybrid and distance learning increasingly manageable and effective for staff, students, and families alike!
Current RIDOH Quarantine Guidance
On December 10, 2020, the Rhode Island Department of Health released new Quarantine Guidance. A detailed summary of this guidance can be found here.
Generally, the guidance allows for:
- 14 Day Quarantine for Immunocompromised and/or Long-Term Care Staff
- 10 Day Quarantine for General Public (while continuing to monitor for symptoms)
- 7 Day Quarantine with Negative Test at least 5 Days After Last Exposure
A reminder that the Department of Health is the only organization that can mandate a person quarantine. The school will continue to address necessary hybrid learning scenarios on a case by case basis in consultation with the Department of Health.
Probable Cases & Testing Procedures
The Department of Health has released additional resources for families regarding how to proceed if your child has symptoms at home or becomes ill at school. You can find the RIDOH Resources for Families here. Please note, if your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 that indicate a probable case, please call 844-857-1814 from 7:30am-9:30pm seven days a week to schedule a test through the K-12 Testing Network. You should also notify the school as soon as possible.
If your child is experiencing symptoms and is being tested, two tests will be conducted at the K-12 testing site - a rapid test with results within 24 hours, and a PCR test with results within 48 hours. Please note, students are not permitted to return to school until both tests are negative and symptoms have resolved. In addition, families must complete the After Illness Return Attestation Form which can also be found on the homepage of our school website under "Important Links."
A reminder that our hybrid learning policies for students absent due to illness or quarantine can be found in our Hybrid Learning Guide for Students and Families as well as in a quick reference guide here.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
