It virtually connected the whole world electrically. The only big gap was between Europe and America.

The transatlantic telegraph was accomplished in 1866 by Cyrus Field in the mid atlantic ocean.

It was an isulated cable laid on the atlantic floor from the United States of America to Europe.

Many attempts were made to complete the invention, but it took three trys to finally get it right.

Most of the cables still remain at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to this day.

Facts

When president Lincoln was assinated it took approximently 12 days for the news to reach Britian by telegraph. It was the fastest way of reciving news and sending news.
