Safety Second with Officer Steven
Hello Puster Families!
If I haven’t gotten to meet you yet, my name is Steven Emory and I am the School Marshal at Puster Elementary. Below I have some important Safety and Security information and updates. Please make sure you read through all of the sections and let me know if you have any questions!
This Month's Drills:
12/19/22 - Evacuation drill/ will reschedule (make sure your student has a coat for this day)
As many of you have read the district email on the student that was approached by an unknown vehicle yesterday. To help combat this, I reminded the student about stranger danger on the announcements.
Here are a few things to discuss with your child.
Walk in groups when possible
Have a plan on what to do if a stranger approaches them, where to go, who to call, fight back if grabbed and yell I don't know you help.
Teach your children that bad people don’t necessarily look mean – they often will smile and act friendly. Teach your children not to be tricked – be smart!
Use role-playing and “what if” scenarios so children can practice what to do and how to respond in different situations.
Decide a secret code word to use in emergency situations. If you can’t pick up your children yourself, make sure the person you send uses the code word. Your child should never go with anyone who does not know the code word.
Give your children whistles to blow on if they feel in danger. The whistles will help attract attention and may prevent a crime.
Make sure your child knows how to reach you in an emergency.
Also teach your children how and when to call 9-1-1.
I hope all of you have a great day and stay safe. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with such a wonderful community.

Miss B's Buzz
Next week, I will be starting my next round of guidance lessons. We will be discussing our second character trait…Responsibility! We will also discuss how being responsible corresponds with making healthy choices. Character Trait Award Winners in the area of Responsibility will be honored at our next Puster Pride on December 15th.
Notes from Mrs. George
It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of the first semester. The building looks like a Winter Wonderland and there is a buzz of excitement in the air. Puster students continue to amaze me with their perseverance, grit and hard work. Parents, you are doing an amazing job of raising responsible children. Thank you for your partnership.
