Dutch Fork High News & Celebrations
May 13, 2022
Congratulations to the Dutch Fork High School Touchdown Club for being named District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties' Outstanding Community Volunteer Group of the Year. Thank you to our parent volunteers for all you do for our student athletes.
Parent Survey
The South Carolina Department of Education partners with the Education Oversight Committee to deliver a parent survey. The responses to the survey are collected and combined with other parent responses to provide information to the school and district leadership about how parents feel about the school.
Access for the parent school climate survey is through the parent portal. Directions for parents on how to use the web browser are linked HERE. Parents without a parent portal will receive a letter with a QR code from the district that can be scanned from a phone in order to complete the survey. Please note that parents and students have separate accounts/portals.
We encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey and thank you in advance for your time!
Literacy Corner
Students, looking for a summer read? The Dutch Fork High Free Library has been restocked one last time before the year ends. Come check the lockers next to room 208 to find your perfect book match.
EOC Testing
All students taking EOCs will need to come to school with a charged school Chromebook each day in order to take their tests. Please remember that this grade counts as 20% of your overall grade. If you have issues with your Chromebook or need a loaner, please go to ICare ASAP in the media center.
Late Start Wednesdays
Please note there are NO LATE START Wednesdays during the month of May.
Internet Service
If interested, please see the link below to a new Federal Government program regarding affordable home internet access. This program is not being promoted by Dutch Fork High nor by District 5, but DFHS is simply making our families aware of the program. Thank you!

School Counseling
Important Reminder From School Counseling Department Regarding Palmetto Fellows Late Award
We discussed Palmetto Fellow scholarship information during your Senior IGP meetings and the qualifying criteria. You may remember that you need a 4.0 or higher GPA and either 1400 on the SAT or 32 on the ACT. You were informed that we could count test scores through the June test dates. We wanted to make you aware in case you want to try to take a June test to qualify.
On the ACT website, it states that the test date is June 11th and on the SAT website, it states that the test is June 4th. We are not certain if these test sites will be open and available, but they are listed on their respective websites.
If you decide to take either the June ACT or SAT in hopes of qualifying for Palmetto Fellows, you must inform your school counselor now. There is paperwork that must be submitted to the SC Commission on Higher Ed (CHE) in June. You would also need to have your test scores sent directly to CHE. Their ACT registration code is 6326. Their SAT registration code is 4313.
Please let your school counselor know if you will be testing or if you have any questions.
