A reminder of the language posted in the student handbook:
Grades: Students and parents are asked to set grade goals for each quarter and re-evaluate them during student-led conferences. In addition, D/F reports two weeks prior to the end of a quarter and access to the Infinite Campus Portal are available throughout the grading periods. Teachers are encouraged to update grades weekly. Grades at a minimum are updated every two weeks. See grade update schedule on the FMS website. The following marking system is used: A, B, C, D, F, I - Incomplete. A Pass/Fail grade (P/F), meets expectations (ME), or No Credit (NC) may be given if the teacher, parent and administrator agree to do so.
REPORT CARDS
All students and parents may access report cards and mid-quarter reports on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. An automatic dialer will notify families each time report cards, mid-quarter reports, and D/F reports are available. Mid-quarter reports and D/F reports will not be mailed unless requested. Report cards will be sent home with students in a sealed envelope. A dialer will go out notifying families they are coming home.

ATTENTION ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS! Are you interested in getting involved and helping make our school and community a better place?
We are going to be holding an information meeting about FALCONS FOR CHANGE, our middle school community service group, on Tuesday morning at 7:45 a.m. in the auditorium. This is a great way to get involved and make a positive impact on our own school and community. Please plan to attend to get more information about how you can make a positive difference in the world around you!

Article from Mrs. McDermott's Falcon Strong Happenings:
FMS Auditorium Dedication
This week at the Faribault Public Schools School Board meeting the FMS auditorium was officially named the Dicks Shiels Performing Arts Center. Three of Dick's children were present for the dedication. Mr. Shiels was a longtime teacher, coach, and principal of Faribault Junior High. He was very inspirational to the Faribault community and to our school. We are very honored to have our performing arts center named after such a great man.
From your PBIS Team:
-be visible: before school, during passing time and after school
-know who you have in the hallway and be aware of how much time they are out of your room
-use positive phrases when redirecting or "correcting" student behavior. An example: "Hey John! We walk in the hallway. Let me walk with you while we try again."
-implement a staff shadow in between classes
-discuss safety factor behind keeping hands to self and promote being a leader
-use academic seminar time to teach sessions on positive behavior and leadership
Keep handing out your Falcon Strong tickets!!

Learn from the very best.
At our monthly staff meetings, we will be taking time to share out successes from your classrooms. If you are trying a new strategy, looking for a partner to experiment with a new project, or simply have a story to share, please let me know and we will set up a schedule to present at the staff meetings
