Crafting PLE
The Art of Creating Personalized Learning Environments
FMS Edition - September, 2016
Many of you know that the PLEFs were regionalized, and I was assigned to two different schools. Thankfully, with Dr. Williams' persuasive skills, I was able to return to Ferndale this year. It has been quite heartwarming to have so many of you tell me how glad you are to have me back. I am extremely grateful to be back with the school I love! I can't wait to see all that we can accomplish this year.

Tech Trainings with Teena
I'm sorry to say that there are no stipends for training this year. However, CEUs may be available. Please complete this survey to give me some feedback on what to offer and when.
Outside Training Opportunities
The Friday Institute at NC State offers online classes for anyone who wants to participate. They are pretty much self-paced, with new content added each week. They usually last about 6 weeks, and you can earn a badge and CEUs. Their fall courses begin soon, so check them out!
Enrich your math classroom with technology (NEW!)
Technology is an essential component of today’s workplace and is a ubiquitous component of our society. When integrated effectively, technology can be an invaluable tool to support students’ engagement in and learning of mathematics. Teaching Mathematics with Technology willl equip you with instructional practices that leverage technology to support students’ mathematical learning.
Help your students meet their individual learning needs
All of us, children and adults alike, have different strengths and weaknesses in our learning. In order to help you change the way your students learn, the Learning Differences course will expand your knowledge related to learning differences, provide actionable strategies to impact the learning experience of your students, and cultivate a growth mindset related to learning differences.
Make real data come to life for your students
Nominated for the 2016 ISDDE Prize for Excellence in Educational Design!
To help ensure students are able to use data for making informed decisions, many countries around the world have increased the emphasis on statistics and data analysis in school curriculum. In the Teaching Statistics through Data Investigations course, you will use an investigation cycle to teach statistics and help students explore data to make evidence-based claims.
Getting Help
That's not to say that if I know you have a problem, and I know how to fix it that I won't, but more often, I'll just have to refer you to the Media Specialist.
We'll soon have a help ticket just for laptop issues, for both students and teachers. For now, just email me!
