Arguments & Evidence
Building critical thinking skills can vary greatly, however, one of the ways this can be practiced and guided is through generating arguments and evidence on both sides of a topic or problem. Consider your own content area and how you currently facilitate learning through the use of arguments and collecting evidence. Watch the video below to further reflect on student learning and using arguments and evidence:

STAFF ONLY:
- Critical Issues Teacher Partners: Please review your critical issues from PD and communicate your information, including weekly meeting time with Anzelc.
- LIM Date Reminder from PD: 1. Teacher personal mission, at least one student WIG and leadership notebook set up by due by end of Q1, 2. Classroom mission and student mission statement due by end Oct, 3. Habits 1-7 taught in Advisory by end Dec, 4. Habits 1-2 in content due by end Oct., Habits 3-4 in content due by end Dec., Habits 5-6 in content due by end Q3, Habit 7 in content due by end Q4.
- Picture Day: Picture Day will run periods 2-4 in the Gym for students. Sci/PE classes will take their classes down. Teachers need to take their picture on their prep.
- Box Top Teacher Procedures: As your students turn in their box tops, bag them in groups of 50 if possible and turn them in to Giao. You can turn them in as you collect them or at the very end.
- September 8th Rally: This is an all advisory/no enrichment afternoon. Release times will be provided.
ADVISORIES, STUDENTS & FAMILIES
Science Camp Fundraiser: 6th grade will be running a cookie dough and gift catalog fundraiser Aug 29 - Sep 8.
Yearbook Forms: Yearbook forms were sent home with students last week! Please order online or turn in your orders to Ms. Snelling. Cash is accepted and checks are to be made out to NP3 Boosters.
Popsicle Stand: Student Government will be selling popsicles after school on Thu Aug 31 to raise money for future events. The sale will happen in the quad for 50 cents each.
Picture Day: Picture Day for all students is Aug 30. Forms were sent home with students last week. Please make sure they bring the forms with them on picture day.
No School: On Sep 4 for Labor Day.
Career Day: NP3 will be hosting our annual 7th grade Career Day for 7th grade students on Wed Nov 1! We are looking for parent volunteers to make short presentations to our students on their own professions/jobs, while educating the NP3 students of the daily tasks they perform. If you would like to volunteer without presenting we would love you to help with lunch donations, set-up or clean-up. Box Tops: Boosters is holding an advisory box top collection competition. The winning advisory will get a pizza party. Please turn in your Box Tops to your student's advisory teacher. The competition will start Mon Aug 28 and will end October 28th.
Pizza Sale: Student Government is selling pizza to help raise money for future events. Pizza will be sold after school on Sep 7 for $1 a slice.
Q1 Rally: MS students will participate in their first rally of the year on Fri Sep 8!
Edible Arrangements: Edible arrangements in Natomas is having their 2nd Annual Back To School smoothie sale. Please see attachment for details.
