Weekly Bulletin January 26-31, 2015
Our FMS Band Story
On Saturday, January 17, fifty-one FMS students participated and performed at the UIL Region Band Clinic and Concert. There were 10 schools represented and FMS had the most representation. These students were selected in the fall to participate in Region Band but when they performed on Saturday it was the first time all of the students from the different schools had rehearsed together. It was amazing to see the stage "Marooned Out" and to hear the music performed that they had just rehearsed in one day. These many students could not have achieved this success without the direction and guidance of John Curtin and Michael Childress and your support of the band program.
We are all the "authors" of the Floresville story by what we teach our students, how we teach our students and by building relationships with our students.
6th and 7th Grade Social Studies will be curriculum planning. All other PLC groups will be reviewing benchmark test.
Writing to Check for Understanding Strategy
Charlott has found some good strategies to check for understanding by incorporating writing. This will not only help your own content but also support ELAR. Open the link below. (By the way, I learned how to use Google Docs to attach this file.)
February 4th Student Early Release/Staff Development
On this day, all students will attend Pride and 5th period. The Social Studies and Science teachers will be given an opportunity to plan in the AM so their Pride classes will be covered by other teachers. A Math and ELAR mini lesson will be done during Pride and then students will move into the gym for a Pep Rally.
Staff Development will begin at 1:30 in the FMS cafeteria for STAAR Security and Confidentiality Training and then curriculum planning.
A schedule will be emailed later this week.
