In The Laidlaw Loop
Weekly Newsletter: October 21, 2022
Dear Laidlaw Families,
It was an exciting week at Laidlaw because classrooms cashed in on their very first Laidlaw Loot reward: build a fort or bring a stuffy day! As it turns out, this reward turned into quite a learning experience in building & engineering as well! More importantly, the students had a blast while celebrating our school-wide effort to be respectful, responsible, & safe. IF students earn their reward for this next Laidlaw Loot round, the all-school reward will be granted for all grades on Thursday November 17th. Our 5th grade students helped us pick the reward options this time. As a school we are working towards earning one of the following: 1). Wear a hat or have crazy hair day; 2). Board Game/Card Game time; 3). Red Carpet Day (dress like a star in your fanciest best).
My update is brief this week to allow families to focus on TWO important upcoming events: our Laidlaw Halloween celebrations and Parent/Teacher Conferences. Read on below for both!
Enjoy the SUNNY & WARM weekend.

Lunch Volunteers Needed
Laidlaw is looking for recess volunteers to support at lunch. As we did last year, we will be setting up a weekly schedule and pairing parent volunteers with grade levels during recess. The time commitment is 11:40-12:25, and we are looking for a weekly commitment (for example every Tuesday, or every Monday/Friday). One option that worked well last year for some parents was to split a day with another parent. Volunteering in our lunch room is a fantastic way to connect with the school community. Please contact Emily Haight (ehaight@d101.org.) if you are interested!
