Chamber Choir News from Mr. Hawkins

Congratulations to high school chamber choir students McCrae B and Samuel W for being selected to participate in the South Carolina All-State Chorus! These students will perform at Winthrop University in April with selected students from the state of South Carolina. Tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students are able to audition for a panel of judges. Students are selected based on their individual performance as well as a sight-reading exercise. It is extremely competitive, and we are so happy that McCrae, a sophomore, has been accepted his first year of auditioning and Samuel, a senior, has been accepted for the third year in a row.

ELA and Math Tutoring

ELA tutoring will be Mondays November 16, 23, 30 and December 7, 14. Math tutoring will be Thursdays November 19 and December 3, 10, 17. After-school tutoring is 3:15-4:15, and prompt pick-up is greatly appreciated.

United Way Drive Update

Mr. Burdette has been monitoring the Penny Wars this week, and he says that the students have had a lot of fun adding their pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and bills to the grade level buckets! All of these donations are for the United Way. Southwood Academy's United Way drive continues through November 20th! During this time, students and faculty will have an opportunity to be generous to those in need in our community.

RUSH has started up; students welcome to join!

RUSH, which stands for Rising Up Serving Him, is a Christian organization that meets every two weeks in the media center. Their second meeting will be Friday, November 20th 7:15-7:45. Students of all grade levels are welcome to attend.
