Weekly Update

It was another action packed week of school at SLCS! Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding on Thursday as we tried to make the most of the power outages brought forth by the storms.

Our technology distribution is moving right along and we are getting closer to having all the technology in the hands of the students. Please verify that you have signed and returned the technology agreement and acceptable use forms for your child so that they can receive their technology as soon as possible.

In the coming weeks, we will be conducting the fall NWEA tests. Your teachers will notify you of the day and times for these important assessments as we begin the year.

WIDA letters will be sent home in the next week. If you are expecting one, Mr. Sauter will be getting those to you as soon as possible.

Meet the Teacher Night

Unfortunately, due to the power outages at the school, we had to postpone the Meet the Teacher Night activities on Thursday. Be on the lookout in the next week for the rescheduled date and time.

School Uniform Update!

We are switching our school uniform supplier to SchoolBelles. This company will provide more convenient opportunities for purchasing school required clothing. This will be the source for any school uniform which requires the school logo to be visible. You are certainly welcome to shop the best price for any clothing items such as pants and sweaters that would not require the logo.

Monogrammed polos, sweatshirts and fleece jackets now available on our website.

Please pass along to parents that they can shop at 6315 N Keystone, by phone at 888-637-3037,

or online at www.schoolbelles.com. School code s0660

School Pictures

Our school pictures are scheduled to be taken on Thursday, September 23rd. Retakes will be offered on October 27th. On picture day, the school uniform is not required.

8th Grade Parents

On September 15th at 7:00 PM there will be a mandatory parent meeting. It will be virtual and a link will be provided soon. The purpose of this meeting is to outline some of the highlights of the 8th grade year, including traditional 8th grade festivities, high school application, and the class trip.

I’m excited about our upcoming meeting regarding our Washington, D.C. Trip next May! We will be having a parent meeting on Wednesday, September 15th right after the virtual 8th grade meeting. All are welcome to stay logged on for this portion of the meeting, even if you have already registered.

Bishop Chatard Enrollment Opportunities Now Available

Opportunities to engage with Bishop Chatard High School to learn more about the numerous academic classes and extracurricular activities offered to students are now available. Plan to attend the annual Open House on Thursday, Nov. 4, to tour the school and talk with students and teachers. In the meantime, visit Bishop Chatard’s Prospective Student page at www.bishopchatard.org/prospective-students/ to view videos, take a virtual tour and more.

Also, Mrs. Roberts will be communicating with you about your 8th grade student's shadow day at BCHS. Permission slips are required for the half day experience which will take place during a regularly scheduled school day.

School Lunch Box

The School Nutrition Team has enjoyed having students back in the cafeteria for lunch! They are learning the routine, perfecting their manners and enjoying socializing with their tablemates. We recently celebrated Indiana agriculture "state fair" style with Indiana-grown corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and melon. A dairy treat and corn dogs rounded out the farm-to-school meal. Next Wednesday we will take a break from "hot" lunch and serve a Sub Sandwich, Chips, Fresh Fruit and Veggie Cups and Milk.
