October Edition: Schoology and Genesis
Genesis
Why Can't I Access Information in Genesis?
You have finally gotten yourself logged into Genesis, but there is a problem. You can not access anything within Genesis. There could be several reasons you are experiencing these issues. The first reason could be missing acknowledgements on a document the district requires you to read. Along the same lines, there are forms there that need to be signed as well. Anyone who has not signed the form, or acknowledged the documents, you will automatically be taken to the Forms and Document tabs (see image 1 below).
Another reason you could be experiencing this lockout is your student owes money. Examples of fines are lunch fines, or a student fines for lost books, or missing computer equipment. Until that fine/fee is taken care of, the information you can access in Genesis will be extremely limited (see images 2 & 3 below).

Sports Forms: Where are they and what do I need?
1. When you are in Genesis, there is a Forms tab, select that.
2. Then you will see a list of Athletics forms, 5 to be exact. The first three are annual forms, which means, if you filled them out in the fall, you do not have to complete them again. If your student did not participate in the fall, those forms, Athletes Concussion, Athletes Opioid Fact Sheet and Video, and Athletes Sports - Related Eye Injury, must be filled out.
3. The next two forms need to be filled out seasonally. This means everyone should fill out, Athletes Winter Health History and Athletes Winter Consent for Athletic Participation forms.
Each season will have its own deadline. For this Winter Season, the due date is Nov. 1st. After that due date, you will no longer be able access, or fill out the form.
For more information about the Sports Forms, please visit our schools website, under the Health Office. See the photo below for an example of what the Forms Library looks like with the new forms for winter sports.

Schoology Tips: Updates and Missing Assignments
However, there is another way to see what is happening daily for your student(s). On Schoology, there is the Recent Activities tab preselected for you and it will show what the main office has posted for each day. This acts as the morning announcements for the students and you as well. The main office will also post any after school activity or sports cancellation or changes.
Also on your student's page, you can see what assignments are Overdue (see attached photo). Once you have logged into Schoology, you want to switch over to your student view. How do you do that? Easy.
1. Look at the screen, on the top right corner you will see your name, click it.
2. A drop down menu will appear with your name and your student(s) will appear under it. Select which student you want to check up on and click their name.
3. Now at the top of the screen it should say "You are viewing as Luke Skywalker". On the right side of the screen you can see Overdue Assignments. It gives you specific dates and even times, if the teacher is that specific. You can see the assignment that is due with the description.
Remember, as a parent in Schoology, you can not access Google Documents or Slides, but you can see what the assignment was.
Where can I see if my student has homework?
The other way to see what is Upcoming for your student is to click on the calendar on the top right side of the screen next to your student's name. There is a little icon of a calendar. Click it and it will take you to a calendar showing you all upcoming events for the month. In some cases, future events. Again, these are clickable and will take you to the actual assignment or event within the calendar. See sample Calendar below.
