Principal's Message
Thank you for your patience as we return to school under new COVID Protocols. Now that students are comfortable with the changes, we can focus on learning and having fun!
I am excited to announce we are in the process of implementing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Instructional Systems). The underlying philosophy behind PBIS is to create a common and consistent set of school wide expectations that leave students feeling safe and successful. In addition to school-wide systems of support, PBIS includes multiple, research-based interventions designed for students who need extra guidance staying on track.
Over the last few days, students were introduced to all of our PBIS rules and expectations. Every class received a short overview of what it looks like to be Safe, Respectful and Responsible throughout campus. This includes the library, cafeteria, office, hallways, play structure and restrooms. Now that students know the rules, we will focus on what they do right, rather than what they do wrong. Next week, we will begin handing out Mustang Tickets to students when they are caught following the rules. The Mustang Tickets are entered into a raffle and winners announced weekly.
Physical education starts on Monday! Thanks to your generosity and support, every grade level receives 45 minutes of PE, twice a week. Kinder (A), 1st, 2nd and 5th grade have PE on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students in Kinder (B), 3rd and 4th grade have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays. I recommend sending your child to school in closed-toe footwear on their PE days.

COVID-19 POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Daily Wellness Health Survey:
The Daily Wellness Survey on the Parent Portal is not accessible on all cell phones, so the district has asked each school to design a survey that best fits their community. Below, please find a link to the latest and hopefully last version of the wellness survey! I will email and text the link to you on school nights at 6:00. The paper version of the wellness survey is still available if needed.

Please complete the online health form and sign the waiver on the last page. We can not use the antigen test on your child unless you have registered through Primary Health's website. Feel free to stop by the office if you need technical support.

COVID-19 Exposure at School:
As you know, we had our first positive Covid-19 case on campus. Every family with a child who came into close contact was notified and the students tested. Fortunately, the case was contained and no students were infected at school.
COVID-19 Guidelines:
Henry Ford works closely with the district and follows the recommendations outlined in the Pandemic Recovery Framework. A link to the document can be found below. https://www.smcoe.org/assets/files/For%20Communities_FIL/COVID-19%20Resources_FIL/Pandemic_Recovery_Framework.pdf
• More information regarding RCSD COVID-19 Guidelines can be found on the district web page.
Covid-19 Testing: Free Covid testing is available at Hoover and Kennedy, every Monday from 3:00 - 5:00 and every Thursday 2:15 - 4:00.
DISMISSAL
4th - 5th Grade Parents/Guardians: Please do not get in the pickup lane before 2:45. The bell to dismiss students rings at 2:45, but by the time the classes make it to the front of the school, it is closer to 3:00. Our goal is to have all the 1st - 3rd grade students picked up before the upper grade students come out. Families with students in both upper and lower grade levels are welcome to arrive after the 4th and 5th graders are dismissed. Your child will be supervised until you arrive.
Thursdays are Minimum Days. Students in grades 1st -5th are dismissed at 1:30 every Thursday. Kinder will be dismissed at 1:00 on Thursdays beginning September 9th.
Student Safety: Please do not block the crosswalks, make U-turns in the middle of the street or bypass the pickup line and pull into an empty spot. The system in place is designed to keep students safe. And, dismissal will go much quicker if everyone follows the rules!
