Help Apollo HS Support Those Affected By The Recent Fires

Please consider printing the flyer below and joining Apollo HS as we raise money to help support those that were affected by recent fires in Los Angeles, Ventura, and Butte Counties. All of the money given to Apollo for this fundraiser will now be donated to help this cause. We hope to see you all there!

Operation Christmas Child Service Project

Help our Interact Club and Leadership students with their collection drive for Operation Christmas Child. Last year, we were able to collect enough items to pack over 100 boxes. These boxes are sent to children ages 2 - 14 all around the world who are living in poverty and may otherwise not receive any holiday gifts. Below are the guidelines for donation items.

Donation Suggestions (for children ages 2-14):

  • WOW Items (dolls, deflated soccer balls with pumps, stuffed animal, small musical instrument like a harmonica or recorder, etc.)
  • Personal Care Items (toothbrush, comb, pocket mirror, bar of soap, band-aids, blanket, etc.)
  • School Supplies (pencils, manual pencil sharpener, colored pencils, crayons, markers, notebooks, index cards, scissors, colored paper, etc.)
  • Clothing and Accessories (socks, hats, scarfs, mittens, hair accessories, etc.)
  • Crafts and Activities (puzzles, playing cards, jump rope, frisbee, etc.)
  • Toys (foam ball, kick ball, yo-yo, etch-a-sketch, marbles, finger puppets, little cars/trucks/boats, plastic dinosaurs and dolls, etc.)
DO NOT BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
  • Candy, toothpaste, used or damaged items, war-related items (such as toy guns, knives, or military figures), seeds, chocolate or food, liquids or lotions, medications or vitamins, breakable items, glass containers, or aerosol cans


Bring your items in THIS WEEK. The last day for donations will be Friday, November 16th. We will be having our Packing Party to pack up all of the donated items into boxes on Friday, November 16th at 2:30 pm. All our welcome to join us to pack our boxes. Help us meet our goal of 125 boxes.

Do You Need To Make Up Productive Hours?

Don't wait! All teachers are available Tuesday - Friday, after school from 1:40 - 2:25 pm with the exception of a few days where meetings are held (your teacher will let you know when he/she is unavailable). Start making up hours now and speak with your teachers about how and when to make up your productive hours. Remember 40 productive hours and a passing grade will earn you 5 credits for each of your classes!

What Do You Know About Grit?

Our weekly video clips on the topics of Growth Mindset and Grit will begin this week. These video clips will be shown during Period 3 every Monday. Grit and Growth Mindset are two areas of focus for our school and we wanted to share these video clips with you as well. It is our hope seeing messages like the ones in this video will help our students think about the choices they are making and help increase their perseverance in achieving their goals. We hope you enjoy the video clip seen below and know that your students will be viewing it this week during their Period 3 class.

Students...Earn Your Productive Hours!

Quarter 2 has 43 days and you need 40 productive hours and a passing grade to earn 5 credits in each of your classes. Do your best to be at school ON TIME every day and on time for ALL of your classes with your cell phones and headphones put away. We are here to support you, please let us know how we can help.


Note: All students will earn a productive hour for each of their classes for Friday, November 9th when school was canceled due to the fires.

Congrats to our October 2018 Student of the Month

This past week Becca was honored by the Noontime Rotary Club on her accomplishment of being chosen October's Student of the Month. Thank you to the Noontime Rotary for celebrating our student! After high school, Becca plans to attend college to reach her goal of becoming a social worker. We were so glad your family was able to celebrate this honor with you. Keep up the great work!

Aeries Portal

Logging in and monitoring your student's grades can all be done from the Aeries portal. The importance of this cannot be communicated enough. Parents and students will be able to better partner with the teachers by monitoring students' grades, productive hours, attendance, and other important information within Aeries. if you need help accessing your portal, please contact Carolina Bowers in the office.

If you think there is an issue, don't wait. Contact the teacher and find out how to fix the problem.
