The Eagle's Beak
"Auburn Pride Starts Inside"
January 15, 2021
Dear Auburn Families,
You received a commitment form last week regarding whether you would like to remain online or return in person. I need you to fill that out as soon as possible. If you have questions, please call or email me directly. The sooner I have your forms, the sooner I can begin to plan schedules and assign teachers. There will be a Town Hall on Thursday night for all elementary families, however, I encourage you to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns.
I am unable to discuss changes regarding AM or PM sessions until after I have received and analyzed all of the enrollment data. You can find the form link below for you to fill out.
Another huge shout out and thank you to our community readers who joined our classes today supporting our No Place for Hate campaign:

Enrollment Commitment Form (Survey)
Good Afternoon Avondale Families,
On January 11, 2021, the Avondale School District Board of Education voted to offer a hybrid learning environment for students who choose to return to school for in-seat instruction. This vote also allows us to continue remote learning for all students who intend to remain virtual.
The purpose of this Enrollment Commitment Form is for you to select the learning environment for your child(ren) that will go into effect beginning on February 18, 2021.
The Enrollment Commitment Form can be found here: https://forms.gle/N3TMt8S7A2cSfSvP8
About this form:
- Please complete ONE FORM PER STUDENT.
- This form is due on January 25, 2021 at 8:00am.
- This form also contains selection options for technology, mask policy, child care, food service, and transportation needs.
- In-seat instruction will be scheduled based on enrollment responses and will be delivered in a hybrid schedule based on the building.
- Hybrid means that your child's schedule will be a combination of in-seat, synchronous remote and asynchronous remote days.
- To assist you as you make your decision, we are providing sample schedules with the form for your review.
Responses will be shared with building principals after forms are completed. Buildings will communicate follow-up details and schedules. Please communicate directly with your building principal regarding any questions so we may support you and your student(s).
Considerations for changing your selection or your child's hybrid group assignment can be made by application with your building principal after January 25, 2021.
We appreciate your time and partnership.
Thank you,
James V. Schwarz, Ph.D.
Superintendent
Avondale School District

Positivity Project - Perseverance
You complete what you start despite obstacles. You never give up.
The concept of perseverance can most often be found in one’s active pursuit in overcoming obstacles. Perseverance is a uniquely human characteristic that identifies an individual’s ability to spend long periods of time devoted to a single goal or set of goals. Those who persevere are able to set goals for themselves and then take active, calculated steps toward those goals. People demonstrating high levels of perseverance are able to handle significant, sometimes repeated, setbacks in pursuit of goals.
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

We need Your Help with Our Yearbook!
We need your help! With the school year starting off remotely (and now continuing remotely), we have no fun photos of our students to include in the 2020-2021 yearbook. We still want to have fun memories of this school year that include our amazing students! It would also be a great way to include pictures of your children if you were not able to attend Picture Day.
Below will be a google link for you to attach pictures of your children. There is a folder for each grade, Leadership, Girl Scouts, and Spirit Week. Please send any photos you have to these various folders. We can’t guarantee that we can use all the photos shared with us, but we will do our best to include as many as we can.
If you’re unable to attach your photo, please feel free to email a copy of the photo to chelsey.stankiewicz@avondaleschools.org or Karin.Koberstein@avondaleschools.org with your child's name and which grade or group you would like the picture to be added.
Here is the link to the folders, please place your photo in the proper folder.

Thank you for helping us create memories of this most unexpected school year.
The Role of Parents & Caregivers in Supporting Learning During Challenging Times
The most important thing parents and caregivers can do right now is to keep a love of learning alive for their children. Parents and caregivers are essential partners in supporting learning at home, but what does this mean? Parents do not need to be teachers or content area experts. Please join our Partnerships@Home Learning Series for some ideas about fostering curiosity and a sense of wonder during everyday family life.
All sessions will be virtual.
Various Wednesdays, 7:00 - 7:45 pm
No charge
Please register separately for each session.
Once you are registered, you will receive a Zoom link for the session.Click here for more information.
