Prestwick STEM Academy
Prestwick Profile - Community Vol. 21 Dec. 18
Wednesday, December 20th is early release for all K - 8 students. They will be dismissed at 12:05.
The middle school students, inspired by the holiday season, wanted to create a piece of art that would bring joy to all school. They noticed the great amount of water bottles that are wasted everyday and they wanted to use it as a resource. The idea of a gingerbread house was ideal because it doesn't portray any specific religion, it's inclusive. The students worked collaboratively creating solutions and sharing the joyful spirit of the season. Joy is the basic meaning of this project.

An important note is that we have much to do at school before this winter break. We are proud of the hard work that has been put in showing their persistence and determination to do their very best. Students are taking Math and Reading MAP tests as well as final exams which are needed for gradebook posting. Thanks for you support of having your students here everyday and ready to learn. We highly encourage all travel plans to take place over the designated winter break.

Howdy Lobos!
PSA is excited to introduce and welcome 5th grade Science and Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Rachel Grones. Mrs. Grones is Texas born and Texas proud! She grew up in the Texas Hill Country of Dripping Springs. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (Wreck Em’ Tech!). This is Mrs. Grones’ first year here with us at PSA and seventh year of teaching. What Mrs. Grones loves about teaching science is opening her students' eyes to the vast wonders of science. “In Science, kids get to learn by doing. It’s fun to watch the light bulb go off when they gain the understanding of a concept.” Mrs. Grones is married to her wonderful husband, Charles, and they have two dogs- Kinsey and Bailey. In Mrs.Grones’ free time, she enjoys reading a good book, crafting, and traveling the world with her husband. Their goal is to visit every state in the U.S., and so far they have been to 18.
We are happy to have Mrs. Grones as a part of the PSA family!
Counselor's Corner
This week in Guidance, we are focusing on Service for Guidance classes- K through 5. We are watching amazing videos and having discussion and hearing stories about service in our community and in our world. Please take this opportunity to talk about service in your classes as teachable moments. I am so proud of our students and the participation they are sharing about how their families serve others. They are going out and performing amazing acts of kindness!
There is a Chinese saying that goes: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.” For centuries, the greatest thinkers have suggested the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others.
Thanks for all you do and are going to do for our PSA kids! You are a servant leader every day!
