New Materials

We continue to receive more books from the Penguin Putnam Donation. The last shipment included some picture books and easier chapter books.

We have had some LEGOs donated to the library. If anyone has LEGOs that they are no longer using please consider donating them to the library. The students have been enjoying them!

Did you know?

Every 2 Years the New York State Reading Association gives out the Charlotte Book award. This award is completely decided by kids grades K-12. One of our librarians, Amy Merrill at Coolidge, is on the committee that selected the books.

To see the ballot and information on how to vote visit the Reading Culture page on the library website. There is a Glogster with some book trailers of the titles that we carry in the library. I would be happy to book talk these titles with your classes as well so they can vote.

Library Success Stories

The 6th grade reading classes learned how to rate and comment on books in the OPALS library catalog this month. Each student wrote at least one review for a book they have read. This is a great way for students to share book recommendations with each other.

Check out their book reviews on the OPALS page where it says "reviewed items."

What Are Databases and Why You Need Them

February is:

Black history month! Check out our "Today in Black History" display that will change daily in the library.

Here are some great websites for teaching about black history, including primary sources.
