April 28, 2023
Hello PLES!
Thank you Mr. Collen, Mr. Dellose, and Mr. Lober for being our Watch D.O.G.S. today!
The Avon Grove Education Foundation (AGEF) is seeking nominations from our community to recognize our teachers within the Avon Grove School District. The nomination window will close on Friday, April 28. Click here to nominate a teacher SPARK NOMINATION LINK.
As we begin to prepare for the end of the year, please make sure all library books are returned by Friday, May 5th. This will allow our library team to inventory and prepare the library for the end of the year as well as the grade level transition.
This week on morning announcements we have been reminding students that if they eat breakfast at home then they do not need to eat breakfast at school. Please talk with your student on what their breakfast plan is: eat at home or eat at school.
Have a great weekend!

Learning Spotlight
During the past few weeks, Kindergarten students have been learning about How To writing. They learned how to pick one topic to teach about, how to put the steps in sequential order, and then how to craft their own book or project.
Miss Greco's class wrote their own how-to books and then participated in an Author Share. Each student had a chance to read their work to their peers and act out the steps of their writing.
Mrs. Emerson's class completed small group projects in which students worked together to write how-to posters for their classroom kitchen. Posters included illustrations and written steps for how to set the table, how to make a sandwich, and how to clean the kitchen. Students then acted out the steps and hung up their posters for the whole class to reference when visiting the kitchen.
PBIS and Bucket Filling
We have met our goal of 10,000 bucket bucks! Our kindergarten students set the goal and have selected a spring craft for all students to complete to help decorate the school as a reward. Classes will be working on the crafts next week.
Please take time to review our bus expectations with your student this weekend.
PTA Update
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT from the PLES & AGIS PTA Officers, please read on:
We are excited to share that we are formally proposing a new, combined entity, PTA organizational model, e.g. that both PLES and AGIS will be supported by 1 strategically aligned PTA. Over the past few years, we have been evaluating the effectiveness of our operating model against our current environment, particularly in consideration of the upcoming grade level transitions for grades 2 and 6. With PLES transitioning to Kindergarten and 1st grade, and 2nd grade moving into AGIS, we felt compelled to design a model that is sustainable long-term across both schools, that simultaneously encourages consistency and stronger growth within our organization.
Please see the attachment for additional information, including important dates and an FAQ!
Back by popular demand, we have partnered again with 1st Day School Supplies to provide a quick and easy way to get all required school supplies for the next school year! It is a super convenient way to get all the top and trusted branded school supplies without needing to shop around in the summer. The supplies are shipped to your home prior to the start of school and a portion of the sales is returned to the Penn London PTA to help fund programs for our students!
This service is also available to students attending Avon Grove Intermediate School in the fall! Follow the link below to order.
