Dress Code: Temperatures are warming up and HSB wants to remind you that we have a dress code that you need to think about when buying school clothes. Remember blue or khaki pants for High School and blue or khaki pants or shorts for K-8. Shorts should be to the knee or longer and no cargo shorts or pants can be worn. All students should be in the appropriate Harmony Polo. If wearing a light weight jacket or sweater it must be unbuttoned or unzipped; no pull overs or hoods are allowed. All clothes should be free of holes and/or tears. If you have any questions about the dress code please refer to the student handbook.
Chromebooks: We will begin collecting student issued Chromebooks on Monday, May 5th beginning with 8th grade. Students are responsible for returning their Chromebook in good, working condition. They must also return the Chromebook charger. The fees associated with the Chromebook are as follows: Charger replacement: $55; Keyboard replacement: $60; Chromebook replacement: $450.00. If your student's Chromebook is damaged and you would like to submit an insurance claim, please do so in the Front Office no later than Friday, April 17th (please note that all submitted insurance forms must be approved by the insurance company; if the Chromebook is unable to be repaired by the insurance company, then you will be responsible for the cost to replace or repair).
Lunch Accounts: Students who have a negative balance of $10 or more on their lunch account effective Wednesday, April 1, 2015 will no longer be able to purchase a lunch from the school until their balance is paid. You are able to make payment in the Front Office or via the parent portal.
Note from Nurse Carmen: The nurse is in need of Kleenex! Please donate a box; you can turn it into the front office or Nurse Carmen’s office. Thank You!
Athletic Field Donations: We have added a link on the HSB website for donations for the athletic field. You can still send checks to the front office, but we thought some might like this option better. Anyone can use this option so please spread this information to any possible donor.
PTO:
This week is teacher appreciation week, let’s show them some LOVE! Our teachers work very hard to help our children flourish, so let's take time to let them know how much they mean to us. Whether with a drawing, note of appreciation, a flower or small gift, please have your children surprise their teachers this week. We will have an appreciation luncheon for our teachers and staff on Friday for which we will cater the main dishes again. As with previous lunches, we have assigned each grade drinks, sides, desserts and other accompaniments to make the lunch even more special. Please see attached and bring in what you can Friday morning (or around 10:30 for warm items).
The following week (11th-15th) is Scholastic Book Fair. A great chance to stock up on summer reading books. We need 2-3 volunteers each afternoon from 2:30-4:30 to help guide the students in the peak traffic times. Please email us (hsbdallaspto@gmail.com) if you're available.
Lastly, we hope everyone made it out the Spring Festival on Saturday and enjoyed the beautiful weather, activities and good food, and got to hang out with fellow parents and students. We would love to hear how you enjoyed the festival and how we can improve it. Any and all feedback is welcome, so please let us know.
It's a lot of work to put these together and a great big thank you goes to our tireless and creative Festival planning committee, and to all of you who pitched in and volunteered your time. It truly was a joint effort between teachers, parent and students that made this possible, and we are especially proud of how our students stepped up and showed great leadership and responsibility this year; terrific Harmony spirit!

SPRING 2015 BOOK FAIR MAY 13TH – MAY 15TH
Dear Parents and Families:
Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:
• Set the example. Let children see you read.
• Have a collection of books in the home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.
• Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings to school the books kids want to read. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Pleas
