Amergio Vespucci was born March 9 1451 in Florence, Italy. Amergio died of malaria February 22,1512. Even though he was born in Italy he became a naturalized citizen of Spain in 1505. He was a explorer , financer , navigator and cartographer. Vespucci first demonstrated that Brazil and the West Indies didn't represent Asia's eastern outskirts.

Amergio embraced a mercantile life and was hired as a clerk by the Florentine commercial house of Medici. He got an invitation of king Manuel 1 of Portugal. He participated as observer in several voyages that explored the East Coast of South America in 1499 and 1502. Amergio went on 4 to 6 voyages. HIs first voyage was in Cadiz ( his home land ) to central America where he passed the west Indies and went through the Golf of Mexico. He searched for Island s as he went through South America. HE and his crew first found Iti fererred as Bermuda.
2-3-4 voyages
His 2nd voyage was commanded by Alonso de Ojeda. The crew took different routes to reach Cape Verde Island. Ojeda went to Guianas and Amergio explored to Cape Santo Agostinho. Along the coast of Brazil was the route he took. This expedition made Vespucci the first tot set foot on Brazil. The 3rd voyage was sponsored by king Manuel 1 becuas e the king wanted to know if Brazil was an independent state or if it was a piece of Asian territory. On his way he discovered Rio de Janeiro and Rio de Plata. He found out Brazil was an independent country. ON his 4th voyage he didn't discover anything new. According to the courses his fleet broke up. Vespucci made it to Lisbon via Bahia and settled there permanently. Many believed he went on 2 more voyages , but very little is Known of them.
