8th Grade Update
October 26, 2018
Dear 8th Grade Families,
This Thursday, Ms. Heil sent home a very important letter announcing the upcoming mandatory parent meeting on November 7th from 8:00-9:00am here at school. ALL middle school parents are expected to attend so that we can all participate in a much-needed conversation about social media and the use of technology in school. If you are unable to attend for any reason, you must request permission from both Father Moises and Ms. Heil to miss the meeting. As always, thank you for your support in this important matter! In case you would like to reread Ms. Heil's letter, click the button below to see the Pdf.
As you've already heard, the Fall Festival has been cancelled due to weather. But have no fear! The Haunted House will go on! This Wednesday, October 31st, 8th grade will be hosting the haunted house that we've all been working so hard to create! As soon as details are finalized, I'll send home an update. A huge thank you to the parents who so generously volunteered their time, effort, and supplies. Even though we didn't do the set up as originally planned, we still very much appreciate you!! All parents are still welcome and encouraged to help support this event on our new date. Please reach out to Ms. K at kkullberg@gmail.com and let her know how you're getting involved! Below you will also find a screenshot of our Haunted House ideas. Please know that if you see your child's name signed up for something, that doesn't mean they have to bring it in! This is a working document that 8th grade has been managing to help us stay organized and moving forward. Thanks, all!
Take time this weekend to look at PlusPortals together to see if your first quarter grades are where they need to be. When high schools look at your grades, will they be wowed? Now is the time to reach out to teachers, make up missed assignments, and lock in a solid Quarter 1 grade!
Have a blessed weekend!
Love,
Ms. K

Winter Uniform Reminder
On Monday, Ms. Heil emailed all parents reminding them that students are not permitted to wear non-uniform sweatshirts or jackets in school. Students should bring a Sacred Heart logo cardigan, Sacred Heart PE Sweatshirt, or Sacred Heart Fleece to wear during the school day. We're going to be strictly enforcing this, so all 8th graders should be in their sharpest, full uniform daily.
As the days grow colder, it's also very important that all students bring a warm winter coat to school every day. We'll be going outside for recess (unless it's raining or the temperature falls below 32 degrees) so bundle up! It's no fun standing outside freezing!
