Message to Parents

The first nine weeks is quickly coming to an end! I enjoyed speaking with you all in person during parent/teacher conference week about your child's progress. If you thought September was a busy month, wait until October! This month is jam packed with events around school. Second and fifth grade students will also be participating in the ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) national standardized test during the week of October 19th. Field day is also this month as well as Eagle Fest. We are looking forward to a busy yet fun month ahead!

I can statements..

Math: I can collect and analyze data to make charts, graphs, and tally marks.


Social Studies: I can identify the contributions of early Georgia settlers including Mary Musgrove, James Oglethorpe, and Tomochichi.


Literacy: I can compare and contrast fiction and non-fiction. I can identify parts of a non-fiction text (glossary, index, table of contents, bold faced word, etc.)


Spelling/Word Work: I can use and identfiy long E, long I, -al, and -all word patterns.


Writing: I can gather research and facts to write an informational piece on the five regions of Georgia (Valley & Ridge, Piedmont, Appalachian, Blue Ridge, and Coastal Plain).


Health: I can identify healthy food choices and good nutrition.

October 8th: Chik Fil A spirit night

October 9th: End of first nine weeks

October 12th: Student holiday/teacher workday (no school)

October 14th: Field day @ 9:30 AM

October 16th: Report cards go home & Eagle Fest @ 4:30 PM

October 19th-23rd: ITBS Testing Grades 2 & 5

October 19th: Book Fair browsing 1:10-1:30 PM

October 23rd: Book Fair purchasing 1:00-1:30 PM & Sky Zone night @ 4:00 PM

October 26th: Instructional Night (BYOD, Literacy, Math & eCLASS information sessions) @ 6:30 PM

October 28th: Blue Pop ice day $2 during lunch

October 30th: Box Top collection day
