CRMS Update & Ridge Relay
Soaring to Success! 2/21/2021
Hello Eagle Families,
As was announced last night, all LISD campuses will be closed on Monday & Tuesday including CRMS. That means no virtual or in-person learning and here are some more details:
Unfortunately, this does mean no practices, rehearsals, or games on Monday and Tuesday. And Thursday's track meet will be canceled. Once we can resume practices, then we hope to have our first track meet on 3/4.
CNS will provide meal services for the community on all MS campuses (including CRMS) starting Monday from 11-1 p.m. daily. Meals are available for anyone 18 years old or younger, even if they are not enrolled in LISD.
While our CRMS campus is currently in reasonable shape with power and water in most areas, there are many other campuses with significant issues and we must keep the big picture in mind as a district to support our staff & students. The decision was made not based on specific neighborhoods or campuses, but on the holistic view of the district and the impact this crisis has had. The impact is too great to accommodate a return, even virtually at this time.
With regards to grades, unfortunately, we will not be able to finalize report cards grades with school closed. UIL has said we can use the extended grace period language they released earlier in the year due to COVID to give the teachers additional time to complete the grade entry/verification process. As of right now, we will make the goal for report cards later this week, but we will continue to monitor this in the days to come.
Students need to remain away from campuses for their safety, while maintenance work takes place and we continue to assess potential damage.
The district will reassess the plan on Monday night for the rest of the week based on the circumstances of individual campuses and/or district or city.
We will NOT be adjusting A/B days. We will pick up with whatever day is originally designated on the calendar.
We have had some community members reach out and ask how they can help. At this time, the biggest need appears to be water. If you have any bottled water you are able to donate, please drop it off at the front office at CRMS, and we will help to distribute it to students and families in need. I will be accepting bottled water donations on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00-1:00pm at the CRMS front office. We will keep you posted on further needs as we move forward.
Additionally, I am pleased to share that in the midst of the ice storm, our students were still shining bright this past weekend. Canyon Ridge Middle School had the distinct honor of having BOTH our Choir and Band honored at the TMEA conference. I am in awe of the amazing performance of our CRMS Varsity Tenor Bass Choir on Friday night. Their STATE performance at TMEA was beautifully done & such a great accomplishment during this pandemic. Way to go guys and kudos to the work by directors Courtney Kelly & Helen McDaniel! Please listen for yourself to the state Choir performance. Then on Saturday, the CRMS Honor Band was exceptional in their STATE performance at TMEA. We are so proud of their dedication despite the pandemic and their magnificent performance! Outstanding work & congratulations to Directors Amy Allison, Steve Myers, and Tristan Rivera! Enjoy as the band performs the state Band performance.
For now, please take care of yourself and your family and please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything. Many of our Eagle students, staff and families remain without water or are boiling water, so if you are in need, please do not hesitate to ask me, your AP or counselor and we will do our best to help you with anything. There are supports available, and this is our priority right now!
Go Eagles!
Wendy Sturdevant

LISD Equity & Diversity Listening Sessions
Leander ISD is committed to listening and working to understand instances of racial inequity and other discrimination in our district. We want to support our students and families by shining a light on the truth that racism and inequity exist in LISD and use this information to make changes for the better.
As a district, we’ve received messages, had conversations, and heard from our Leander ISD families during Citizen Comments at Board meetings. But we know we can and should do more. Because we want to be purposeful in making progress, we are hosting 6 community listening sessions for parents, students, teachers, and staff in February 2021. We will present this feedback and additional action steps during an upcoming spring 2021 Board meeting.

Each student-athlete or performer will be allowed two spectators to attend games and events. We will permit siblings under five to attend with their parent or guardian. Coaches, sponsors and directors will contact students and families with details for their games and events.
We will notify our families of updates to this policy as we monitor the conditions of COVID-19.
To ensure you have the most accurate and up to date information on our sports schedules, please visit the Athletics Website.
Here is the Leander ISD General Spectator information for all Leander ISD athletic events.
Everyone entering the stadium/gyms will be required to wear a face mask the entire time they are at the school event.
You will be asked health screener questions when you arrive and must be completed by each person attending. If you have symptoms, please do not attend.

Maintain the social distancing, wear your mask, wash your hands & sanitize!
If anyone in your household tests positive for COVID, please notify Mrs. Sturdevant or our school nurse, Rachael Kristoff, immediately. Also, since we are in between holiday breaks, if your child is in-person & was with someone over the holiday break that has now tested positive for COVID, you must notify the nurse of the exposure. We are doing our best to properly contact trace & keep all of our students & staff safe.
We encourage our families and staff to do their part to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
By coming to school, you are attesting that you confidently answered “NO” to ALL of the questions related to COVID-19 symptoms and have a very low risk of carrying or spreading COVID-19. If you answered “YES” to ANY of the questions, you are to stay home. All screening information will be kept confidential by the campus administration and the campus nurse.
Students experiencing ANY of the symptoms from the list, in a way that is not normal for the student, MUST REMAIN AT HOME and a parent/guardian should email the CRMS Attendance Clerk (CRMSAttendance@leanderisd.org) and provide the student’s Full Legal Name, Student ID Number, date and reason for absence.
***Students who are required to stay home due to COVID-19 related symptoms can still access learning virtually if they feel well enough to attend virtual classes.
@AusPublicHealth is offering risk guidance for gatherings to help keep #1LISD healthy & safe. With the recent surge in COVID cases in central Texas, we're especially mindful of how the pandemic continues to affect our community and potentially our schools. Our most important goal is keeping our campuses open so that our students can learn and our families can thrive. We can't do it alone. Please do your part to celebrate safely during the holidays so that we can support and safeguard our teachers, students and students.

April 12th will be an A day.
Launch to Learning Guides and FAQ
As the upcoming school year takes shape, we want to ensure the information families need to make important decisions is easy to access in our Launch to Learning 2020-21 guides.
We know that our community still has questions, so we’ve worked hard at cultivating an expansive, updated FAQ section of the Launch to Learning site. The latest additions will be highlighted green for a few days and then moved into a queue under the appropriate heading.
