Peer Tutoring -- Other Disciplines Needed

Are you interested in supporting your peers as they learn Math, English, Science, or Band? Sign up to be part of the Masco Peer Tutoring program. Use the link below to fill out a peer tutor interest form. There is a separate form for each discipline (each group is managed by a different student), however, you can fill out more than one form. We will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, November 10th during Masco block in the Small Cafe. We will send a reminder as well!

English Peer Tutoring: Please follow this link to express interest in being a tutor.

Math Peer Tutoring: Please follow this link to express interest in being a tutor.

Science Peer Tutoring: Please follow this link to express interest in being a tutor.

Stay tuned as we role out other Disciplines!

I need a Tutor in World Language

As we begin to roll out our Peer Tutoring program, we are piloting a number of processes under the leadership of Guiliana Nazzaro. If you could use some help in World Language, please fill out this form. We will also be partnering directly with teachers to meet your needs as well.

Door Dash Delivery Reminder

This is a reminder that we DO NOT allow food deliveries to students during the academic school day. There has been an uptick in deliveries to the building and we are not equipped to receive food deliveries to the Main Office or any other location in the building.

Student Leadership Conference

We will be sending a small team (six students) to the IDEAS Strength in Diversity conference at Lincoln-Sudbury High School on December 9th. The purpose of this conference is to engage students from a range of racial and ethnic backgrounds in conversation on issues of racism, intolerance, discrimination, and allied behavior. Because enrollment is limited, there is a quick turnaround to the application. Here is information provided by IDEAS for families and students that better describes the day. If you are interested in applying to attend, please fill out the application, print, and return it to the Main Office by Wednesday, November 9th, by 2:15 PM (email applications will NOT be accepted).

PowerSchool Portal - End of Quarter

Quarter 1 closed on Friday, November 4th. The Power School portal will open again no later than 4 PM, Tuesday, November 15, 2022. If you have specific questions about grades while the portal is closed, please reach out directly to your teachers. We will send out a reminder when the Portal is open and report cards are available.

Class of 2023 - SnowBall Tickets - Class Photo

Snow Ball tickets will be on sale at lunch from 11/7-11/21. Cost is $65 (checks only, payable to “Masco Class of 2023”).

You will have your courtyard class photo on Monday during M-block. Go to your M-block classroom first and wait to be called to the courtyard. The photo is weather dependent.

Environmental Club

On Sunday, some of our club officers (Charlotte Shaw, Sara Tocci, and Lily Wheadon) spent the morning planting blueberry bushes (and chatting and snacking too) with members of the garden club. It was such a wholesome community event, and I am so proud of these students and their dedication to service.

As a reminder, all students have a community service requirement for graduation. There are typically many opportunities during the weeks leading up to winter break to volunteer with different organizations. Please check out the community service website for further information regarding opportunities, hours required for each graduating class year, and the linked Google form for students to fill out and receive credit for hours completed.

If you are involved in an organization that has upcoming availability for student volunteers, we are always posting new opportunities for students on our website. In order to have your opportunity listed, please fill out the Google form.

Athletics

End of Season Congratulations

As we look forward to the Fall Athletic Newsletter in the coming weeks, I wanted to extend my congratulations to the athletes and coaches representing Masconomet at the Freshman and JV level. These teams are critical to the growth of our Varsity programs, but also allow students to pursue passions that were developed in the elementary and middle school years. Research shows that feeling a connection to your school allows students to better engage in the learning process. Further, playing on a team helps athletes develop important skills about the different roles people play as member of a team. -- Good luck to the Freshman Football team that will play their final game on Monday!

Athletic Contests

Girls Volleyball will be at home on Monday (11/7/2022) for a 5:00 PM game in the round of 16.

Boys Soccer moves onto the round of 16 with a game against Longmeadow scheduled for Tuesday at 630 PM under the lights at Essex-Tech.

Girls Soccer moves onto the round of 16 with a game against Melrose on Wednesday at 6:30 PM under the lights at Bishop Fenwick.

Field Hockey moves onto the round of 16 taking on Scituate, Wednesday at 2:30 PM at the Boxford turf.

Congratulations to the Varsity Football team on their qualification for post-season play. The team fought until the very end against a talented Wakefield team on Friday night. Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the team. They will play a consolation game later this week.

Congratulations to Coach Monagle who earned is 100th win last week against Swampscott. We thank him for his tireless commitment to our football program.
