Week of August 16-20th
A Note from Mrs. Zagala
I hope that you and your families had a restful and safe Summer Vacation. My family and I were able to make some beautiful memories together. I now feel rested, relaxed, and rejuvenated for this upcoming school year. I know that there are many challenges that we are all facing, but I am looking forward to seeing all of our students and staff reunited and back in the building.
As we enter the first weeks of school I realize that there are many uncertainties and concerns about the pandemic. Please know that the safety of our students, staff, and visitors is our top priority. Although things seem to be changing daily, this is what I know to be true today:
-Effective August 23rd, all student, staff and visitors on campus must wear face masks while in district buildings. (Temporary mandate voted on by the NISD Board of Trustees on August 17, 2022). To learn more about the temporary mandate, please see the following link: NISD Link
-Routine and frequent cleaning and disinfecting will continue at all district facilities including on school buses.
-Frequent handwashing will be encouraged. Hand sanitizer will be made available for all students and staff.
-Staff, students, and visitors are encouraged to practice physical distancing when possible.
-COVID-19 testing will continue to be offered at NISD campuses for symptomatic individuals with parent consent.
-Contact tracing will occur as necessary at all district campuses and buildings.
As there are updates on this current situation, I will keep our Allen community informed.
I thank you for entrusting us with your child's education.
2021-2022 School Supply Lists
Meet the Teacher: August 19, 2021
All students and their families are invited to join us on Thursday, August 19th from 4:30-6:30 PM for our Meet the Teacher event. Students can use this opportunity to meet their teacher and to drop off their school supplies for Monday. Parents can visit the Jerry D. Allen Elementary PTA table, and are also invited to join our PTA for only $8.00. Our new student spirit shirts will also be on sale for $12.00.
We highly encourage that all students, parents and visitors wear their masks at all times while on campus.
Although Meet the Teacher is open to all students and their families from 4:30-6:30 PM, to allow for more social distancing, we recommend that you visit the campus by your last name:
We are looking forward to seeing our students and their families!
First Day of School
On the first day of school, parents may walk their children to class. Effective Day 2 parents are not permitted past the cafeteria. We ask all parents that visit the cafeteria to stop by the front office to obtain a visitors pass first. Visitors will need to present their state issued ID in order to get a pass. We thank you for helping us keep our students safe.
*All students, staff and parents must wear their face masks.*
Parent & Family Engagement Survey
Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. This information will assist your child’s school and Northside ISD’s Family Engagement Program in creating services to respond to your needs. Please complete this survey by September 24, 2021. Please reflect on the 2020-2021 school year for most of your responses. Some may require your input based on your existing family/personal needs. Thank you for your time and valuable input. We appreciate your support.
