Crabapple Crossing Elementary
Principal's Newsletter
October 4, 2017
Dr. Rachel Williams, Principal
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
This week is a short week here at Crabapple Crossing; therefore, you are receiving my newsletter early. I want to thank everyone who came out Tuesday for Family Literacy Night. Our students have made great academic achievement gains in the areas of Reading and Writing, and they were proud to showcase their work for you. As always, we appreciate your support. The greatest thing to see with all of the hard work we have accomplished here, is our students LOVE for reading and writing which continues to develop daily. Please enjoy a few pics below.
Congratulations to the Milton Eagles on their win Friday against Roswell. I had a great time at the game and enjoyed seeing some of our Colts in attendance with their families. I also enjoyed seeing many former Colts Saturday afternoon at Milton, playing football and cheering for the feeder teams. Dylan Lewis and his family invited me out and I was so impressed with the talents I saw. Our kids continue to make us proud even as they enter into middle school! Enjoy a few pics below.
I hope you have a fabulous long weekend. Keep in mind there is no school for students Thursday, Friday and the following Monday due to teacher workdays and a holiday. As a reminder, I will be out of the office beginning the afternoon of October 6th, with a return date of October 16th, as I am traveling out of the country. If you have any needs in my absence, Mrs. Richardson, Assistant Principal, is your contact. Upon my return, GLO will be in full swing. I cannot wait to celebrate our biggest fundraiser of the year with you during the weeks ahead!
February 16th to be a Make-up day
Thank you in advance for your flexibility.
Employees of the Month
Mrs. Sandefur is new to our staff this year and has jumped right in! She is doing a great job partnering with our media center staff to teach technology lessons to our students.
Lunch Visitors
Our students greatly enjoy having parents and grandparents come to eat lunch with them during the school year. We would like to remind you of a few things to keep in mind as you come to eat with your student. Lunch visitors are asked to check-in at the front office and go directly to the cafeteria (not the classroom) to meet their student. Per our school handbook, food from outside vendors and fast food restaurants is not allowed in the cafeteria. Please plan to purchase lunch in the cafeteria or bring your own lunch from home. We would also like to ask that you set a good example for our students while the music is on and refrain from talking during that time as well.
Thank you!
Be THE Voice Fun Run
Colorful powder! Inflatables! A DJ! Dance contest! Food! A petting zoo! And lots more! What do all these have in common?! They are things you and your entire family can enjoy at the Be THE Voice Color Blast Fun Run on Sunday, October 15, 2017, 2-6 pm at the Elkins Pointe Middle School Athletic Field. Be THE Voice is a locally-developed, student-led anti-bullying program, and this event serves as a celebration of its success and a fundraiser so that it can be further expanded in the community. Individual and family registrations received by 9/28/17 are guaranteed a commemorative event t-shirt and sunglasses. You may register online at www.btvstopbullying.com or via this linked registration form. We look forward to seeing you there!
