Special Edition for the Class of 2021
Class of 2021-
We hear the questions - Will we have a prom? Will we have a sports season? What will graduation look like? How can we continue the tradition of Senior Breakfast?
When will the school give us answers? This is the question I hear from students and families that ruminates in my mind.
I wish I had all the answers. I wish we could continue our planning as normal. Celebrating our Senior Class is an annual operation that has been fine tuned through years of planning. Our traditional planning schedules, lists, purchases and meetings have also been turned upside down. We are also adjusting to the reality of COVID.
As we start to slowly reopen, we need your partnership! Please continue to wear a mask, wash your hands, practice social distancing and stay home from school and activities if you have any symptoms. We need to be vigilant with these precautions - at our lunches, in class, as practicable during sports and activities. Hosting our Senior events will be dependent on the current trend of fighting the COVID virus.
Despite the pandemic you deserve to be celebrated. I want to take this moment to share - I am proud of all of you! I believe in the future of our world because of your ability to face obstacles, persevere and create innovative solutions to unique problems. We will navigate the unknown together.
In this newsletter you will find important save the date information for Prom and Graduation. You will also see two opportunities organized by our fantastic PTSA. There is also one last opportunity to get your Senior Portrait for the yearbook.
As we close out your Senior year, I am asking for your trust, flexibility and patience, while I continue to advocate for the Granite Hills community. My promise moving forward is to release updates as they become available. Many of the decisions being made requires our school sites to unify around a district wide solution. We need time to hold deliberate conversations with a variety of stakeholders.
I look forward to seeing the Class of 2021 "Soar" out together towards a promising future, full of new opportunities!
Thank you Class of 2021! You are an incredible group of students and families!

Jostens would like to remind all seniors the deadline has long past to place your order for caps and gowns for this June’s graduation. The vast majority of the senior class has taken care of reserving a cap & gown unit, but there are still many that have no order placed. Jostens would like to encourage you to place your order as soon as possible using the link below to ensure you have a cap/gown unit for your commencement ceremony. Please keep in mind if you do not reserve a cap & gown unit for graduation there will not be one automatically available to you, so please use the link below to order all graduation supplies including cap & gown. If you have any questions please contact our Jostens representative Mark at 858-486-2020, or send him an email at mark.boyer@jostens.com.
Granite Hills is providing one FINAL opportunity for Boyd Anderson Photography to take Senior portraits on campus. Seniors that have not already done so may sign up for Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 10:00 - 1:00. The photos will be used in the 2020-21 yearbook and available for purchase.
This is the ONLY date remaining for seniors to have their portrait taken!
The event will take place in the Granite Hills gymnasium where Boyd Anderson will create an “in studio” setting. Students will be spaced throughout the day and all CDC safety guidelines will be in place. Anyone that enters campus must wear a face covering.
Please click below to sign-up for a timeslot (one per student).
Following are the guidelines provided by the studio:
Dress in accordance with school guidelines.
Traditionally, students dress up for Senior Photos. Solid colors and long sleeves photograph well. A solid shirt and tie will also photograph well.
Boyd Anderson provides a “proof” service so no money is needed. Boyd Anderson will notify families when images are available.
Each student will receive an instruction card with a QR code that links to their photo gallery.
Students will be notified via email when their gallery is ready to view.
