Announcements and Updates....January, 7, 2019

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

I can't believe it's already 2019, and half the school year is over! Hoping you all were able to spend time with family and friends over the holidays through winter break, ringing in the New Year!

In lieu of a full size school newsletter in January, I will send out announcements and updates throughout the month to keep you well informed about all the happenings at the school site, and within the District. I will send out my next school newsletter in February.

Morning Drop Off Procedures

Please do not park in the drop-off zone during the morning drop off times. The drop zone is for dropping off students quickly, then exiting the parking lot. If you need to wait in the car with your child till school supervision begins, please park you car in a non-staff parking spot in the parking lot. Staff are unable to get into the parking lot to park their cars when the drop off zone is backed up with parked cars. Also, please remember that there is not school supervision before 7:50. Thank you!

January 26th, is our next School Beautification Day!

Saturday, January 26th at 9:00 AM will be our next scheduled School Beautification Day, weather permitting.

We still have so much to do in our school garden to get it prepared and ready for our grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on May 3rd and 4th. The winter season has delayed some of the work we had planned, but we hope that you and your family can stop by and help out if your available. There are other areas around the school that we will also be working on.

If you have any questions contact Karen Canady, karen_canady@sbcglobal.net

Supporting Children and Teens as They Manage the Challenges and Temptations of Today’s World

As parents, we have many good reasons to feel concerned and anxious about knowing what is best for our children. We are constantly warned about the risks that come with social media, the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and the power of peer pressure, but don’t always know the best way to help our children confront and navigate these challenges. Join us for a three-night series in which we will explore current thinking about how to best support our children and teens so that they can successfully weather the challenges of growing up and develop the resilience they will need to make good choices. Classes will be held 1/16, 1/23 & 1/30 from 7:00- 8:30 pm. Visit the CVACE website at www.cvadult.org to enroll or call the school at (510)886-1000. Information about the class is also in the school brochure that will reach Castro Valley homes in December. The class is free, but limited to 35 participants and you must be registered to attend.
