Longhorn Weekly
Excellence, Everywhere, Everyday!
We have one week left in the 2018-19 school year! I'm sure no one is counting...Our students may be counting with their Finals starting this week...
Seniors, keep your eye on the schedule next week, as you are busy every single day with senior luncheon, graduation practice, field day, and then our 2019 Graduation Ceremony is Thursday, May 23 at 7:00pm at UTA College Station! It is going to be a wonderful evening and all of us look forward to the formal sendoff and conclusion of high school for the Class of 2019! This has been quite possibly my favorite class thus far in my career. Congratulations Longhorns!
Our 2019 Prom was held Friday night at the Waxahachie Civic Center and it was a huge success! Our students were dress to impress and danced the night away! Our prom committee did a phenomenal job of putting this event together.
Earlier today, we held our annual Baccalaureate Service at IBOC. Predictably this event was well attended by our graduates and their families. It is also a fantastic opportunity for our seniors to take photos with family and friends in their graduation attire.
With less than 4 days of school remaining it is crucial that students attend school every day and are on time to every class.
We have tutoring options every day, and counselors and teachers are always very willing to help students with what they need. Please keep track of your child’s grades throughout the last weeks of the semester and encourage them to stay for tutoring, make up any missed assignments, study for exams, and complete projects.
End of the semester projects and upcoming final exams are generally worth large portions of the grade, so it is important to stay focused and working hard. Please contact our teachers or your child’s counselor if you questions or concerns.
As we approach the last week of school, I would like to remind all students of the expectation to maintain Longhorn Spirit and Pride in all actions and behaviors. Consequences for inappropriate behavior may result in suspension, including into the next school year. It is important for students to remain focused and finish strong.

COMMENCEMENT ADMISSION TICKET INFORMATION
Each graduating senior will be responsible for picking up their own admission tickets.
Seniors must have a valid school ID or current driver’s license. Tickets will not be
released to anyone other than the graduating senior/or parent with the proper ID on
the day of practice. The district takes the number of tickets that UTA provides (number of
seats available) and divides by the number of seniors graduating. This leaves 10 tickets per
senior. Unfortunately, there are not options to purchase extra tickets . Once a student takes
possession of their allotted tickets, they are fully responsible for ticket security and
replacement tickets will not be provided.
Final Exams
Every course taught must have a comprehensive final examination each semester. The examination will measure the student's level of mastery of the TEKS. Every student enrolled in a course must take the comprehensive examination to be awarded credit for the course. Final and/or semester exams cannot be taken early. Students who miss exams with an excused absence must schedule the exams no later than two weeks after date of the exam unless there are extenuating circumstances. A student can make arrangements to take the exam late if the principal is notified of the circumstance. The exam grade will be zero until the exam is made up.
