Dear Parents,


The month of May was off to a very busy start with a kindergarten field trip, kindergarten orientation and spring pictures! The children's smiling faces lit up the hallway as they went to the gym to have their pictures taken.


We were happy the rain held off long enough for the kindergarten students to walk to the post office. They were so proud to purchase their own stamps and send their letters off for a "special" delivery!


On Thursday, we welcomed the Class of 2029 for Kindergarten Orientation. The children had an opportunity to work with the kindergarten teachers while their parents learned about the kindergarten program. This year the parents were invited to take the bus ride with their child. We value this opportunity to spend time with our new kindergarteners and their parents in supporting the transition to our school.


As we prepare for the incoming kindergarteners, Seymour School is preparing for their incoming third graders, who are our current second graders. There will be an Informational Meeting for parent's only on Tuesday, May 31st fro 6:00-7:00 p.m. The children will have an opportunity to visit Seymour School on Wednesday, June 1st during the school day.


The Hartford Math Night, which was scheduled for May 18th has been cancelled. We will try again next year to host this event in Hartford.


All week we have celebrated our fabulous faculty and staff as part of Teacher Appreciation Week. I need to take a moment to recognize the PTO and the parent volunteer's who mad the faculty and staff at Allgrove feel appreciated. The staff was treated each day to something special in the faculty room. Thursday's luncheon was an absolutely delicious buffet. The week ended with raffle gifts and may staff members left for the weekend with an extra special surprise. We are truly lucky to have such a generous PTO. Thank you to the many parent volunteers who made this week special for our faculty and staff. We felt truly appreciated.!


The Jake's Wayback fundraiser was a success and the PTO extends a big thank you to everyone who participated.


As I mentioned before, this is a busy time so please remember to check your child's backpack for important upcoming events.


Allgrove Blooms Readers - We look forward to this annual Allgrove tradition. The teachers and children are excited to work with a parent volunteer to put together their classroom planter. If you haven't had a chance to donate your $5.00, it's not too late. Thank you for your support. We still need a few volunteers to help out in classrooms. Please let us know if you are available to help out.


Choice Grant Afterschool Programs - We will be sending home the notices about the upcoming program on Monday.


Hartford Family Math Night has been cancelled.


Allgrove/Seymour Art Show is Thursday, May 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.


Book Fair - Mark your calendars - May 23rd to May 27th.


Grade 2 Panoramic Photograph will be take on Tuesday, May 17th. An order form will be sent home next week.

Congratulations to Bus 7 and Bus 1. Both buses earned the same amount of wins for the month. We are so proud of both bus lines.
